11 days post op and down 22lbs and back in the 100’s for the first time in years. I’m in shock. I still have a long way to go but I’m so happy right now. I won’t lie I have moments where I question my decision because this is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I know I’m doing this to live a long healthy life.

Fantastic!! Congratulations!! Can you tell us what your eating and exercise plan is? I’m really getting anxious because my scale hasn’t moved in a full week. 3 weeks post-op and still at the same 24 lbs I was at on my two week post-op appt.

I’m having surgery in 2 weeks (February), and wondered if I could ask you guys who have just had your surgeries as few questions...

1. My doctor says I can likely be back to work in 7-10 days. I’ve had my gallbladder removed and I felt like I was ready to head back to work after 3 days. Is 7-10 days after realistic? (I teach kindergarten, but can head to the washroom when needed and avoid lifting for the first few weeks as I have a full time EA this year).

2. Did your cravings drop after surgery? I’m 1 week in to my 3 week pre-op and not craving sugary foods. I think maybe because the Protein Drinks are sweet. But the cravings for savoury things is intense (cracker and cheese, steak, etc). I’m seasoning my roasted veggies and it helps a little. But when you have to make 3 meals/day for your family and see and smell the food, it doesn’t help much.

Are you having VSG or RNY?

I had VSG and I have a desk job. I am ready to go back to work tomorrow. I don't have the same energy used to as I am averaging about 500 calories per day. I have zero cravings and no hunger. But I feel I can handle working. As long as you can get in 64 oz of Water and meet your Protein daily goals you probably should be able to go back to work. If you have a job that is more strenuous you probably will need more recovery time. Also keep in mind, no lifting more than 10 lbs for the first 4 to 6 weeks until you incisions heal.

Question—my surgery (VSG) is Tuesday. For the 8 days pre Op I’ve been blending a handful of ice cubes with Premier Protein shakes ( so it’s like a milkshake) Will I be able to do this after Tuesday as well!??

Also—I’m stressing over the hospital stay. How long (fellow VSGs) did you have to stay in the hospital???

I am really just focusing on getting all my fluids in. I do a lot of crystal light with Water. I have been struggling with the Protein piece of it. The Premier Protein shakes make me sick to my stomach. I try to get 1 shake in and make up the rest of the protein with Greek yogurt. As far as exercise I am not doing anything more than walking my dog in our neighborhood. I wouldn’t stress about being stuck I’ve heard that the 3-week stall is very common.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. Makes me feel much better to hear that this stall isn’t unusual. I bought Keto sticks and I’m actually in moderate Ketosis with no weight loss this week so that really bothered me. I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing and know that it has to go down eventually. Congratulations, again!!

You can try ensure MAX PROTEIN they settled with me a lot better than premier. Just make sure you only drink the MAX PROTEIN ensure the others r too high carb and fat.

Have you tried the fairlife core? It literally tastes like a milkshake

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
