I had my surgery on Oct 1st. I am almost 4weeks postop, and lost 15lbs the first 2 weeks after surgery, but since then I havent been able to lose anything, in fact I've gained 3lbs. Im very frustrated and feel like I'm failing. Anyone have any advice? Also I can't figure out how to fill out my surgery stats if anyone can help me figure that out?

Dear Newbie,

My surgery was also October 1st! I have lost 17, and feel the same way, but I am trying to suppress those feelings. We are not failing. I keep reading that each experience is different. I believe that if we follow the program, we both will succeed.

Each person is different and your weight WILL fluctuate. Just stick to a high Protein, >20g carbs, > 20g sugar diet. Also make sure you stay active. Exercise at least 30-45 minutes 6 times a week and the weight will start falling off in no time.

I stalled at 3 weeks. It was so frustrating especially after watching weight fall off first 2 weeks. About a week later I started loosing again. It’s just your body getting use to the changes. Hang in there

It has been 3 weeks since I have lost even a pound and I'm feeling like I went through all this for nothing. I'm doing the best I can with eating and drinking my fluids, but my body just seems to not want to get rid of any weight. I am having problems with energy so I'm not able to work out due to the fact I get light headed very easily. I'm always tired and always want to sleep. Can someone please give me any suggestions as to what I may be doing or need to try please.

i was right where you are. the first two weeks my weight flew off, and then i stayed the same for a few week. i remember thinking, i already failed and this isnt gonna work for me. im doing something wrong. WRONG. i was soooooooo wrong. please just trust the process. stick to your diet. get your liquids in and at least try to walk once a day. in 2 months you will see a huge difference. just keep going. its going to be hard to talk your brain out of what it is already thinking. but please just sit back and enjoy this ride.

i do this almost every single day and its been working for me

8am Protein Shake

10am - Protein snack (almonds, Quest chips)

12pm- another protein shake

2pm- protein snack

dinner - some kind of protein meat and a veggie. i eat the protein first and if i can get to veggie then great.

sugar free ice pop for and later cravings

800-1000 cal/ day of me.

this is just me. what has worked for me.

started 386

surgery -340 7/10

today 254 10/31

most importantly just breath. you are going to kill this!!

You will have stalls during your voyage, during the stalls don't weigh yourself or it will drive you nuts. I find about every 3 weeks I will have a week where I lose .2 pounds. Your body is shifting and adjusting. Drink lots of fluids, get 60g. Protein. You will want to sleep and be tired for the first month. I'm 3 months in and all I do is walk, not a lot, just some. I'm not an exercise type of person. Expect to lose about 8 pounds a month and be happy with it. It takes time to reach a goal. This is a journey not a sprint

I'm 7weeks out and have lost 44lbs . Listen to Jake H. I'm doing very similar to his routine and it's working. The fatigue is still there but fading slowly. Stay positive and follow your surgeons direction and you will succeed.

I also had my surgery 10/1. My weight loss is so slow. This is nothing like I expected. I had the hiatel hernia repair with the sleeve surgery. I did a destination surgery in Nevada. There was no pre surgery diet because my weight was too low. I overate for almost 2 weeks prior to surgery.

The hernia and GERD plus menopause caused overeating. Lots of crackers to tame the acid. Doctor said the hernia was terrible and she expected significant relief. She was right. I didn’t expect it to be so narrow. I think it’s going to be a problem.

5 days of 500 calories or less walking 8 miles a day equals 1 pound weight loss. Unacceptable.

I’m thinking of fasting to expedite the weightloss.

I’m frustrated but this is going to work.

You didn't put on the weight in one month, why do you think it will come off in one month? You need to make sure you are doing 60g of Protein, first, nothing other than Water. Usually by the time I got the protein in I wasn't hungry. It took all day the first weeks to drink 2 Protein Drinks. Then the water, lots of it sipping only. If you're walking 8 miles a day, and building muscle remember muscle weighs more than fat. I also gained weight the first week because of all of the fluids they gave me in the hospital. I was told no heavy exercising for 6 weeks. Just follow the plan. Mine was liquids only the first week, full liquids weeks 2-3 then soft foods weeks 3-6. If you're unhappy with were your results, focus on protein. I didn't start eating real foods until week 7. Then chicken shredded. This is a journey and not a race. If you start at a lower weight then the loss will be slower.

Sandra, I didn’t expect to lose it all in one month. But I thought it would be better than 10lbs.
I drink a clear Protein and a chocolate one every day. Then Water and a small 200 calorie meal.
I wish for a 30 pound weight loss in a month. I will make this work but I am still wishing it was faster.

Your starting weight is much lower, so 8 - 10 pounds a month is normal, especially at that weight. You may have better months, but patience is the rule here. You are losing so be happy. I started at 292, so my drop was quick at first but once I reached 240 it was 10 pounds a month with stalls every 3 weeks. Some weeks I say "this is easy peasy" then a stall happens and I'm sure I'll never lose another pound. But the body is still shifting some people love to measure, I use my clothes to judge. Now, unfortunately, we can't point to the spot I want to lose. My boobs went first, then bum, but it is my legs I want to go and they seem to be last. Just enjoy the journey. I lost 50 pounds before anyone noticed, I mean really. You are losing and work on becoming the better version of you.

You are right! I worked really hard the last few days and had another 5 pound weight loss. I will work on patience.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
