Now when I see MO people...

  • Popular Post
... I have this almost irresistible urge to talk to them about my WLS.
At first, this was happening with some family and friends. One month after I had WLS, one of my good friends who is super-MO,had a heart attack (at the age of 45) and spent over 2 months in the hospital, had multiple surgeries and now has to wear an LVAT and will either die early or need a transplant.
I desperately wanted to talk to her and our other MO friends who I would meet at the hospital, but obviously it wasn’t the appropriate moment.

Since then as I edge ever-closer to GW, I find myself being drawn to MO and super-MO people and I want to scream at the top of my lungs that there is a way out of that living hell.
It’s also complicated by the fact that I’m a healthcare professional so I see these guys day in and day out.

I’ve had SUCH a positive experience and my life and well-being have done a complete 180 that I feel almost as if I have a personal responsibility to let anyone and everyone know about WLS.

I talk about WLS when someone is genuinely interested. My first year out, I had to realize my enthusiasm about bariatrics is not at everyone’s level. Learning the basics was eye opening and life

I know exactly how you feel ? but not everyone is ready, willing or able to take the journey. So I refrain and I only really talk in depth about it if someone is really seeking answers.

  • Oh gosh I hear you. But unless they have known "fat" you, (& even sometimes then too) it's still going to come across as another skinny person giving them shame. Because my head still hasn't cau

Probably... Probably not

But

Yeah I have no excuses (except I concentrate better on my actually grocery list if I'm not hungry ?)

Allowed as long as it's not something sold by weight (i.e. grapes), and you pay for it when you check out of course.

Whole watermelons ??

Most of the time it's protein bar out of a box... Lately I have straight away bought this first in the pharmacy section then done the rest of the shopping

But once recently I was spotted eating Cheerios out of the box while wondering endlessly in a market with people who couldn't decide what to buy. No Apologies.

Well, someday I'll call you to bail me out of jail for the grapes. I will not buy without tasting. (Just one, but I do taste!)

Lol. Just goes to show the difference in personality types.
I’m such a boring rule-follower that it honestly never occurred to me that it tasting the food before buying was any kind of option.

*wonders is she can walk into the liquor store with the same philosophy*

I can see clearly now that some people have their own definition of "adventure shopping". ?

SCNR taking a picture of the contents of my shopping cart. It's a bad angle because I felt like a weird creep taking a photo of the food and tried not to be that obvious. ?

Also Last I remembered a few years ago liquor stores in my state actively handed out samples in hopes of getting you to buy new items.

Wines tastings are super big now ?

Edited by GreenTealael

I recently tasted different new vinegars at the small shop I sometimes buy wine, pesto and well - vinegar.

It never occurred to me to taste pure vinegars before on a little spoon.
