y'all...

I'm bored. Bored of all the same bariatric recipes, over and over and over. Ive tried to solve my own problem by creating a shareable google docs so that we can all add our fav recipes and share easily, but no luck. I'm also bored of all the same prepared options, etc etc. What do you guys do to keep things fun?

I don't limit myself to bariatric recipes, I eat what I feel like and it's never the same thing. I eat burgers, tacos, sushi, takeout anything really, I just make sure I eat at home a lot, prioritize my protein and not overeat, I can't anyway!

meh. boredom comes and goes. if I remember correctly, at 1.5 yrs post op, I was just eating whatever, to the point of semi-fullness (I was very conscious of not getting too full cuz I knew would just end up barfing and that was not what I wanted to do). fortunately for me, I just so happen at the the time to be on salad binge...so yeah.

I think that the issue most people get into are the ongoing attempts to make eating more fun and exciting. more satisfying, more yummy etc. and I think this is what got us into the obese/super obese/morbid obese categories. I know it all yeah, yeah, do this, do that, but honestly , the bottom line is you/me/we need to change our relationship with food. if we are constantly chasing that feel good eating moment, we are destined to end up where we started.

find something else to satisfy that hole. or better yet, figure out why you have that hole to fill in the first place.

but again, who am I to tell you what you need to do...only you can figure that out.

good luck! ❤️

p.s. I am 7.5 years post op (omg crazy!) and I have maintained below goal weight this entire time. I eat whatever I want, but in very small quantaties (compared to a "normie"), and I exercise like a crazy/dedicated person, lol. not because I have to, but because I actually enjoy it, go figure. Height 5"1"; Starting weight 235lbs, Goal Weight 127lbs (achieved 7 months post op), Current Weight 105 lbs.

I don’t limit myself either. From the solid food stage (yep way back then) I wasn’t eating bariatric or any ‘diet’ food. Just making food selections that provided the nutrients I needed in appropriate portions, modifying recipes, swapping out ingredients, changing cooking styles, etc. accordingly. Be creative and try things you might not have before.

I developed a way of eating that suited me, enabled me to lose and then maintain. This way I could continue to live & enjoy my life, including going to restaurants, parties, etc. without limiting myself to ‘bariatric approved’ recipes or ‘diet’ food. I didn’t want to be on a diet for the rest of my life. No one would know by looking at what I eat my history with my weight, old eating behaviours, relationship with food, my surgery, etc. Do I eat food that is bad for me? Of course. I just don’t eat it very often & I watch how much of it I eat when I do.

You’ll work out how best to eat, what to eat & how much you can eat of various foods for you, your needs, lifestyle, activity, and so on. Start by adding in a couple of non diet/bariatric meals and see how you go. Good luck.
