Well girls, I have to have port revision surgery. I saw Dr. Bagnato today and he placed my port in entirely the wrong spot. The way i was laying on the table flat made my breasts fall back and on my chest and he thought he was placing it higher than he was. I go back on feb. 4th to make sure all signs of infection/redness are gone and then if all is well I will have my port removed and repositioed on february 8th. Dr. Bagnato is not charging me and he says he will give me a fill at the same time he does the port revision. I won't lie and say I'm not IMMENSELY upset, but its just one of those things that I've got to do. My port is currently in my actual breast and he thinks it will cause problems with filling if we don't do the revision. I could wait and see come fill time, but I'm not happy with a port in my breast either, so despite the fact that I really really really don't want to have surgery again, I must. I am glad he is going to give me a fill because I have zero swelling anymore and can eat normal foods if I let myself. I'm still in shock. I called Terri crying after I left because I'm just so shocked that this has happened to me. Lord help me stay positive and not let this get me down.

Mia;

I'm terribly sorry that you're going thru this. I know it must feel awful, but the good thing is it was found early enough to avoid any future complications. I'll be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. Please don't be too discouraged by all of this, you've come so far and you've done a wonderful thing to improve your health. Things sometimes just happen. I wish you all the best.

Hey everyone! This month's support group meeting has been cancelled. Due to unexpected circumstances, many were not able to attend. We will definitely reschedule it and I will post the new time and date at a later time. Thanks for all your cooperation.

Hi Pam.

Can you tell us how much weight you have lost in a year? I had mine done in October and I have lost right at 55 pounds. I am at a stand still as I am not dieting like I should. I am still happy with the weight I have lost.

I have lost about 45 since last May. Today is my one year anniversary. I could have done better but I have not walked like and should have. Hopefully, I will get more inspiration from this site.

Hi everyone, I am new here and very excited to see some people that live so close to me. I am in Moultrie, and I am a stay at home mom to a 2 year old little girl. I have no clue where to start this process but I am determined I WILL have this done. I hate the thought of not being here for my daughter. I am currently 290 lbs, and at 5 ft 4 1/2 in. that puts my bmi at 49.8.

I was wondering if anyone around me has Medicaid (Wellcare) and if so will they pay for Lap Band? If so, what doctors will accept it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!:crying:

jennifer - I've been told that medicaid does pay for it (don't know for sure), but I do know that the medicaid plan that does pay for it has to be done through a bariatric center of excellence and Dr. Bagnato's office is not one of those. The reason I know that is that our school insurance will start paying for lapband and they are following the medicaid guidelines. Dr. Bagnatos office has applied to be a center of excellence but they told me that it could take awhile.

Congrats to all of the Bagnato Bandits!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was banded December 11t and 1 day out from surgery. So far I've not had any nausea but have found it hard to burp and have some uncomfortableness this morning. I guess this is gas building up. I'm not sure. I'm on Clear Liquids for 5 days. I go for my post op December 18th with Dr. Bagnato. He and is staff are great. I also was a self pay and the sugar Busters was not as bad as I thought it would be. Did any of you have to swallow that dreaded chalk stuff to see if everything was okay before you left the hospital or will that occur during my post of visit? Much continued success for eveyone.LOL

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
