Well mine got cancelled because the insurance company says I have to be smoke free for 6 months. Guess I won't be joining everyone in July!

Hey guys I know we have a July 2019 topic we can talk to each other on but I thought it might be neat to have a schedule so we know who’s going when and we can check on each other! Comment below with your date & surgery and I’ll edit and add you! We can still keep up on our other topic I’m not trying to hijack. Just making a schedule for us to keep up :)

That sucks. I understand the necessity to be smoke free but it seems that they would have verified that before scheduling surgery. Mine got pushed back because I hadn't been compliant on my CPAP lol.

How long have you been smoke free?

6 months at a minimum. It's up to the insurance companies discretion.

I have been nicotine free since March 1st. I started the process more or less back in January or February. Quitting smoking is extremely difficult. Lol. I wasn't aware of the 6 months of nicotine free until yesterday when the insurance denied my surgery. If I would of known I would have been more mentally prepared. I'm 50/50 on even getting the surgery now. I gave up so much just to get shut down. This is the third time they have had issues. Whether it be the doctor's or the insurance I woul like to think that these people I've been paying and sitting down when on a monthly basis had an understanding of what's going on. I know for a fact they have done the surgery on multiple other people with the same exact insurance as me and should of known prerequisites.

Don't let the setbacks cause you to give up on surgery. I've had numerous setbacks myself and it's been about 15 months since I started this journey...and finally i'm scheduled for July 22nd. I was starting to give up after insurance denied me but somehow I kept going and barring anything happening, i'll be post wls in less than 3 weeks.

My surgeon's office required that I call my insurance company and ask a series of questions regarding my coverage and any requirements before I even met with the surgeon the first time...and we still messed up lol.

Everything happens for a reason and I truly believe that my setbacks were allowing me more time to prepare myself for surgery.

How are you doing? Hope you’re recovering well!

2 day post-op has gone way better than I expected. I'm taking my fluids, walking, and passing gas normally. My pain is well managed and I've had zero regrets. My dr just dropped in to give me discharge info, and my nurse said I should expect to be free to go by lunch. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you for checking in with me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
