HELP! Fill the day before Thanksgiving?

Recommended Posts

I am really having a hard time with this decision. I am scheduled for a fill appointment this Wednesday (yes...the day before Thanksgiving!) I have only lost around 5 lbs this month. I am at 7.5CC/10cc VG band. I feel great restriction in the morning and I am great thru lunch time. I eat about 1/2 cup for Breakfast and something small (under a cup) for lunch. But by the time I get home around 6:30 pm, I could chew my arm off. I am doing better this week by drinking a 16 oz bottle of Water during my drive home. I know another cc would probably be great...but OMG...before Thanksgiving. I have already planned my meal. A little of this and a little of that. I am having family over and I do not want to be on liquids thru Thursday.

I am OK with 5 lbs a month. I would love 8, but I want to be realistic thru the holidays. I do alot of entertaining ! UGH! HELP!

remember that this is a permanent lifestyle change?

This is only the first on many celebrations that you'll have to face as a bandster.

Get your fill on schedule and eat accordingly, you'll be so much happier with yourself after theholiday and you've LOST WEIGHT!!

Speaking only for myself, I abused the priveledge of eating like "normal" people at Thanksgiving many, many years ago... so I feel like its time I was responsible for what goes in my mouth.

Thanks for the advice. I would not have abused my band on that day. I have never done that. I just do not want to have to mess with the whole liquid thing for that day. Just feeling a little sorry for myself...that's all!

Wilem:

I'm getting a fill on Wednesday too, at least I hope I am. I am disgusted today with how much I can eat today. I've been out of control, and had little restriction. I can't wait to get restriction back! A bite of stuffing with gravy, a couple of bites of squash, and some cranberry sauce, and I'll be happy.

Happy Holidays!

Sue

I always count my fill day as the first day of liquids followed by mushies. If you use the same schedule you can eat mushies for Thanksgiving. Potatoes, stuffing. They will all go down nicely. Good luck and have a great day.

I only go on FULL FLUIDS for the day of the fill, then to solids the next morning... been filled 4 times so far... no problems. This is the schedule that is recommended by my clinic.

Yeah! I like your schedule best. I will just have to see how I feel on Thursday. I am going to go ahead and have the fill. Thanks for the advice guys. It's hard to discuss this with people who have never been thru what we have. Thanks again! BTW, I was down another pound this morning!!!!!!!!!!

I had my first fill .. and yes, the day before Thanksgiving. I'm only feeling a slight bit of restriction, but I'm hoping it kicks in quick.. I needed to do this before the holiday, because it would just be another excuse for overeating.

How long did it take before some of you felt restriction?

i too had a fill right before turkey day...i was worried because its my favorite holiday, well i guess that i didnt get to my former size by accident- anyways, after eating... while everyone was sick from bring stuffed to the gills, i got up & cleaned the dishes, then i took ALL the kids in the house(10 of them) down to the lake & took a 3 mile walk...something that i wouldnt have been able to do before & i RAN after them...yes, that was VERY gratifying... So that being said, i didnt miss eating all that food...small victory, but a victory none the less...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
