Not telling anyone

Recommended Posts

The only person that knows is my cousin and the only reason i had to tell her is because i needed someone to pick me up from the hospital. Oh and my best friend i told like five days after surgery. She was calling me every day and i was answering and she was worried. And when i told her what i did she didn’t believe me. Lol. My boyfriend thinks i had my gallbladder remover and i just told my job that i was having surgery. I am not ready to tell everyone . I don’t feel liking hearing the criticism or bing judged. I just want to deal with this transition right now.

I've been very open about it with everyone - family, extended family, TOPS diet group, friends, strangers. Most are curious and/or supportive. Sadly my sister and best friend disapproved, though my sister came around pretty quickly.

I often do unconventional things before they become mainstream (eg a destination wedding years before that term was coined, living and working abroad before internet and Airbnb were invented, etc). People around me know me as smart and fairly well-grounded, so when I do something like having WLS in Tijuana, they figure it can't be as wacky as it first sounds.

Strangers...are interesting. They might normally be critical of someone they know doing it, but with a stranger like me, they're just curious. I figure maybe I'm helping others indirectly by opening minds.

Did you ever tell anyone? I’m sure I will get questions.

One great thing is we’ve all managed this question in a way that has hopefully been most comfortable for us. A recent conversation with my now boss regarding a surgery was simply - should we worry? I appreciate the balance of concern and respect to privacy that was displayed. It was not in regards to WLS but is worth mentioning. Many years out and my husband and five other people know Plastics are my husband and a handful of friends. Private is not synonymous with a secret or shame.

I'm surprised I don't get more questions. Lots of people have made positive comments about my weight loss, but very few have asked how. I think if you're fat, most people think you should be dieting and exercising and that is enough to lose weight.

Only my hubby, two sons, my daughter in law, and one close friend at work and another coworker who had WLS know I had surgery. I'm a very private person and I didn't want anyone's judgement. It took a long time to get hubby on board but once he attended a seminar and asked a gazillion questions, he was more than fine with it. My sons are very supportive of the surgery, they want me healthy and around for many years. Losing 50 lbs prior to surgery with diet and excercise will be my excuse as I continue to drop the weight. I have several people on my team following the same diet and exercise regimen. I am happy to help anyone who is struggling with weight loss.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
