Just banded on Friday!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Well, I was just banded on Friday! Everything went well, better in fact than the doctors had been hoping for. I needed to stay on aspirin for heart stuff, but the bleeding wasn't too bad. They kept me overnight, just to keep an eye on me, and I came home last night. It's nice to be home, although I miss the hospital bed.

My kids are still gone (we farmed them out for the whole weeked) so it's nice and quiet around here.

My abdomen is pretty sore - I need help sitting up, but the girdle thing helps a ton! I'm also feeling pretty bloated. I had really bad pain in my shoulder from the gas, but that's mosly gone now, too. I'm taking the liquid percoset right now, but I'll start moving to Tylenol pretty soon so I can drive.

Anyway, I don't really have any questions yet, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I did it and it went great!

Thanks!

Congratulations! I'm scheduled tomorrow morning. I'm starting to be terrified but not from the decision to actually have this done...just from surgery aftermath. But, I know it will be temporary. Good luck to you.

Hi Ladybug!

And congratulations. I, too, just had my surgery on Friday. I feel quite good. I would like to eat, however. My husband is watching footbal and eating chips and dip. While I'm on clear fluids (they don't fill the void). But I will make it. I'm so glad it's over! Waiting for the surgery and the day of is the worst. After that, it is all down hill. I was lucky, I didn't have any gas pain. My abdomen is sore where the incisions are, but I only feel the soreness when I'm moving and mostly when I have to get up from the couch. I'm going to use my husband's back support strap, I think the support to my stomach will help when I am moving around.

Take it easy, some say the sorest days are days 3 and 4.

Thanks everyone!

The support band they gave me at the hospital is a lifesaver! It really makes getting up from the couch a lot easier.

To Hannnah, I was in alot of pain too for about a week. Went back to work after that but it was too soon. Should have waited at least a week and a half. Call your doctor for pain medicine if you need to. I went to liquid Tylenol but I could only find it in Children's. It seemed to work after all the medicine I got from the doctor was gone. You are going to be in some pain but everyone is diffferent. If you are really concerned though, call you doc. The're the professionals. Best of luck to you

hi yall! I also was banded on friday. It has been a rough ride for me also. I thought i would just slide thru this like ive done all my other surgeries.. Nope..not me.. my blood pressure dropped so low i kept passing out when i tried to get up. They put a cathater in me the 1st nite, but by day 2 i was dragging myself to the bathroom. ITs now day 4, i still have pain on the left side and my back hurts like crazy! I think that may be because im holding myself like an 80yr old. Today i started with the diahreeah(cant spell). I still feel very weak and get winded when i walk too much. Does anyone have a suggestion for a Vitamin? I think if i were getting more nurtition, i would start to feel stronger. Thanks

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
