Just banded on Friday!

Hi everyone! Well, I was just banded on Friday! Everything went well, better in fact than the doctors had been hoping for. I needed to stay on aspirin for heart stuff, but the bleeding wasn't too bad. They kept me overnight, just to keep an eye on me, and I came home last night. It's nice to be home, although I miss the hospital bed.

My kids are still gone (we farmed them out for the whole weeked) so it's nice and quiet around here.

My abdomen is pretty sore - I need help sitting up, but the girdle thing helps a ton! I'm also feeling pretty bloated. I had really bad pain in my shoulder from the gas, but that's mosly gone now, too. I'm taking the liquid percoset right now, but I'll start moving to Tylenol pretty soon so I can drive.

Anyway, I don't really have any questions yet, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I did it and it went great!

Thanks!

Congratulations!!!! Glad to hear you are doing good! Keep us posted.

Congratulations! I'm scheduled tomorrow morning. I'm starting to be terrified but not from the decision to actually have this done...just from surgery aftermath. But, I know it will be temporary. Good luck to you.

Hi Ladybug!

And congratulations. I, too, just had my surgery on Friday. I feel quite good. I would like to eat, however. My husband is watching footbal and eating chips and dip. While I'm on clear fluids (they don't fill the void). But I will make it. I'm so glad it's over! Waiting for the surgery and the day of is the worst. After that, it is all down hill. I was lucky, I didn't have any gas pain. My abdomen is sore where the incisions are, but I only feel the soreness when I'm moving and mostly when I have to get up from the couch. I'm going to use my husband's back support strap, I think the support to my stomach will help when I am moving around.

Take it easy, some say the sorest days are days 3 and 4.

Thanks everyone!

The support band they gave me at the hospital is a lifesaver! It really makes getting up from the couch a lot easier.

Hi ladybug,

I was banded on Tuesday (13th Nov 07).

Today (monday), I feel fantastic, no pain or feeling uncomfortable. I actually mopped and vacuumed the floors today! You'll be up and at em in no time. Take care

HELP.........I was banded on Friday and I am A LOT OF PAIN!!! I am running out of Lortab. I wasnt given any advice on what else to take! In the previous post she said she was on Percoset right now.

And going to Tylenol so that she can drive. It hurts when I breath! I dont know if it is better to wear a bra or not! Anything advice on anything would be helpful! I feel like I wasnt told or taught as much as everyone else!! THANKS!!!

I too was banded last Friday. I only have minor pain on my left side and at my port site. I have to say this was one of the easieest things I have been throug medically. I know i over did it ysterday so today i amjust lying in ed taking it easy. Hope everyone else is doing good too. take care.

Congratulations to all the new banders... almost 3 weeks down the track and feeling great! Hope you enjoy the journey.

To Hannnah, I was in alot of pain too for about a week. Went back to work after that but it was too soon. Should have waited at least a week and a half. Call your doctor for pain medicine if you need to. I went to liquid Tylenol but I could only find it in Children's. It seemed to work after all the medicine I got from the doctor was gone. You are going to be in some pain but everyone is diffferent. If you are really concerned though, call you doc. The're the professionals. Best of luck to you

THANK you!!! It was just a big big adjustment! I was told dont worry you can return back to your normal life in 3 days!! Wow are you serious! I know that I am going to have to call in tomorrow from work!!! I will look for the liquid! THANK YOU

hi yall! I also was banded on friday. It has been a rough ride for me also. I thought i would just slide thru this like ive done all my other surgeries.. Nope..not me.. my blood pressure dropped so low i kept passing out when i tried to get up. They put a cathater in me the 1st nite, but by day 2 i was dragging myself to the bathroom. ITs now day 4, i still have pain on the left side and my back hurts like crazy! I think that may be because im holding myself like an 80yr old. Today i started with the diahreeah(cant spell). I still feel very weak and get winded when i walk too much. Does anyone have a suggestion for a vitamin? I think if i were getting more nurtition, i would start to feel stronger. Thanks

Lauri:help:

Hi Lauri,

I am taking a liquid vitamin called Accomin, 10mls a day.

Hope your feeling better soon, take it easy.
