Recommended Posts

I'm only 5 feet just over a year ago weighd 240. Lost 41 lbs before surgery CW 182. Is there any other petite losers out here? I have been told the weight loss would be slower. Would love to hear other expetiences.

Hi there

We aren’t far apart - I started at 234, and am now 135-137 - nice and stable now for 9 months. I hit my goal, which was 154ish, in 6 months. I did work the thing pretty hard and seldom strayed from the eating plan, and honestly my loss was no slower than anyone else’s.

I had previously had a gastric band which broke and I had slowly regained about 7-10lbs a year and was approachingbpre-band weight so had a bypass. I knew this was my last shot, so went for it! Totally reshaped my eating and started exercising. Started with an electric bicycle and, once some weight was off, started the Couch 2 5k app to start running. I run 3x a week now, cycle 3x a week, and gym 3-4 times a week. I love having lovely curves muscles now!

You can do it - pick up sheer bloody-minded determination to bust a gut for 6 months over this (not literally of course!) and you’ll not be far off being able to try on every outfit in every shop!

My bypass was June 21st 2018. I started at 227 and now weigh 133. Honestly I don't want to lose anymore seeing I am 5"2. I eat what I want just cant eat much. I never seem to get hungry or at least not the hungry I've always been used to all my life. I have more energy than I've had in years and love being able to wear smaller cloths.

I do have daily diarrhea no matter what I eat or how much. I hope this isn't something I'll have to deal with the rest of my life.

Best of luck to you!!

Hi Tracydawn, I am also 5 ft. I had GS surgery December 2018. Almost 4 1/2 months out now - I have lost 72 pounds. I am very strict (nothing processed) three small meals a day with no snacking. I walk every day. Very active with my business. Eat out regularly for business lunches usually ordering a small salad or shrimp cocktail (can only eat three shrimp) etc. And, of course, lots of Water and I enjoy hot Decaf tea with 1% milk later in the evenings. I don't experience stalls and very happy about my pace. I suspect there are others who loose slower or faster... So, I don't compare. Every body is different. The key for me has been to eat a variety of healthy, high quality nutrition fresh as possible and remain well-hydrated. The water is imperative to flushing out fat deposits, and I believe keeping my body on a steady downward course. You seem to be doing really well according to your stats. It will be an exciting ride! Continued success with each passing day toward your goal of 130! My goal too. Maybe by December 2019? :]

5"2 here, 6 months post bypass, now 156, lost 50 lbs (began at 220-ish) in the first 4 months. I lost it scary fast and have problems with alopecia now. I've had a hell of a time this past month losing which has been attributed to my body knowing this weight from the past. I have gained a lot of muscle though. I work out 5 times a week with 4 of those being with a trainer. I think everyone's journey is different.

Too many factors control if your loss is fast or slow.

I’m 5’5” High weight 254 current weight 133. My weight loss was fast. Six months is not the norm. Size 4 pants – Small/medium shirts.

I’m 5’ as well I tried to fight for surgery because I didn’t want to see over 200lbs again. Day of surgery I was 203lbs my highest 208lb. And BMI of 40. I cannot exercise and have metabolic disorders.

I think as of this morning I might have hit a total 70lb loss. My surgery was April 29th. I started to log my weight daily on a calendar and take daily notes of weight, what I eat, calories and Protein. I do stick to a certain calorie range and usually average between 50-60 grams protein. I try to vary what I eat and the calories/protein sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. I’m still trying to add new things. But make sure protein is priority.

i honestly didn’t think I would get this far. I had gastric bypass surgery and gallbladder removal (my gallbladder had chronic inflammation)

I started at 255 and I have lost VERY slowly. I am also past menopause so my metabolism isnt great. At 9 months I'm still 30 pounds away from my goal of 150 and it makes me sad sometimes. I see so many people here that have lost all their weight in 6 months. Im doing the best I can but some days its hard.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
