First thing you ate when you were cleared for normal food

Recommended Posts

Last night I had 1/4 wrapless taco, Precious Pouch was so astonished she forgot to puke. Maybe Power to the Plump Princess and I will be on a roll ! Might sneak a little, more into today, made with finely ground lean meat fr9m my local good meat market, IGA, Wal-Mart and unless I buy Angus at my local Krogers,,, it regurgitates also. I know I I'm usually am hurting for Protein, that why shakes and I are still steady- dating. Finally found a line that doesn't make me grimace badly.

Mine was steak I believe. It was amazing even if I was only able to eat like 3 bites.

I just had a sleeve gastrectomy on 5/9/19 and will have my first post-op appointment tomorrow (5/15/19). So far I have been on clear liquid diet of beef and chicken broth and sugar-free popsicles and jell-o cups.

I cant even imagine what I will eat first! Tbh, I’m kind of scared. Does one bite really fill you up? I was 6’ 2” 315 pounds at surgery, with a BMI of 39.5, now I am 6’ 2” 290 pounds.

Cottage cheese.

I measured out 1/4 cup (which at the time looked so tiny in the bowl) and was only able to eat about 2/3 of it, which shocked me.

It was the most delicious cottage cheese I’d ever had in my life...

I can't remember the first thing when I was cleared for any food. When I was cleared for pureed though I dragged my husband to the nearest Indian food restaurant. (My surgeon is very conservative with diet progression and I was on full liquids for 6 weeks) I was ready for something savory and spicy!

Half of a roasted chicken thigh. It was so blissful to chew!

I am dying to chew something right now, one week post op 😁

Simple plain food makes sense. Will keep all of your suggestions in mind. I love salmon and tuna.

My first eggs after my sleeve was glorious. Eggs after bypass made me vomit it was so disgusting. So weird how surgery changes our taste.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
