Is it possible to drink “to quickly”

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to drink Water “to quickly”. At the end of the day when I realize I didn’t drink enough I take big gulps (no air) every 5-10 minutes just to get the full 64oz in that day. And I didn’t know if it was going to do any harm. I mean obviously it’s easier to drink it throughout the day. But I’m a caregiver and i guess I’m to focused on helping them to make sure I drink the whole 64oz.

I couldn't drink Water too fast for at least eight months after surgery. I could only zip it. If I drank too fast I got a pain in my sternum area and had to walk it off. On the other hand I have a friend who recently had WLS and on day one he's gulping water down with no problem with no bad effects. I told him that I wished that I was able to drink that way post surgery. So, to answer your your question, if you can drink a lot of fluids in one sitting with no bad effects, go for it.

Thank you so much! I was sitting there like well maybe I shouldn’t be gulping Water like this and wanted to make sure.

Believe you me, if I tried that, Precious Pouch would reflux it right back up so fast I might aspirate. She has absolutely no sense of humor, we get along better if I give her no more than 2-3 ounces a sip.

Mine does that with food(I don’t eat a lot it’s just really picky) only thing I know I can eat at this point is cheese or green Beans but is fine with me drinking large amounts of Water in one sitting

I miss being able to drink quantities of Water more than I miss food at this point. I feel thirsty all the time but have to be very careful to only drink small sips and only a couple at a time. I am 3 1/2 weeks out from a full gastric bypass.

That is what was the worst part in the hospital. I was sipping on Water from my little sponge stick and went thru a lot of cups and 12 hours later they cut me off, saying One cup should’ve lasted me all day. I was like but I’m still thirsty 😂

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
