Good Morning y'all!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and now that we are half way throught the month...

How's everyone doing? Feeling ________?

Feeling tired. Fell off the wagon big time, hoisting my saggy butt back on. Restarting my 10 day junk food challenge tomorrow since I only made it five days on my first go. Got an air fyer for mothers days so hoping to learn some tasty healthy recipes.

Its taco Tuesday, so I make that from scratch. I always throw my taco meat over lettuce and just have a salad.

Missed this yesterday... sort of.

I'm feeling a bit off today. Tired and headache-y. I'm hoping it's just a side effect of the liquid diet/my period/too much sun over the weekend. My hip/leg is improved today, but still not 100%.

2 days until surgery... oy, this is getting so real.

Cook from scratch... well, I do that most of the time anyway. Tonight the wee-lings and my beloved are having Slumgullion (a ground beef and macaroni dish, reminiscent of hamburger helper... but homemade, so it's miles better) and garden salads.

I’m having one of the best weight loss months in a long time. I lost 7 over the past 4 weeks which is close to double what I had been losing monthly the previous few months. I’m working out hard 5 days a week and it really made a difference, (dammit). I have 1 pound to go to meet my goal for May. I am anticipating a stall since I tend to get them on a frequent basis.

Went to the gym today and took a strength aerobic class that just about killed me.

I am doing the opposite of cooking something from scratch, I’m going out to dinner! I do cook quite a bit and I enjoy it most days.

May Day #14

  • 12 pushups: Done, plus 12 squats + 12 sit-ups
  • Cook from scratch: Well, I do this everyday. Here is what I made for the fam last night: Oven-roasted broccoli with grilled chicken, roasted garlic slices, and shaved parmesan. Served with homemade hummus (à la Mr.) and crackers (...from a box 😉)

IMG_2103.jpg.51453b64e9a4ad0bf842995448861ab9.jpg

  • ...and this is what I ate. Leftover sushi from lunch: I all of it except the fatty tuna (which the Kid ate) and one of the mackerel roes (which Mr. ate)

May Day #15

  • Read a book: No time for book reading for the next couple months, my reading time is generally delegated to screen-related reading...these days its researching potential vacation destinations for next trips.
  • 12 pushups: Done, plus 12 squats + 12 sit-ups (I'm on a roll!) So apparently one of the guys at my client site is a yoga instructor and has been persuaded (read: strong-armed) to hold some yoga sessions in the afternoons a couple days a week in the lounge starting next week. This is good news for me, given that I have been MIA from my regular classes since starting up here! I guess now I need to invest in some nicer yoga gear to show up in at the office, lol.

Love love love Slumgullion, now there is a Dish from baby-Frustr8hood! Mouth-watering now and few food- thoughts do that any more. Spent yesterday feeling super nausea- sick, called my clinic only to reach a nurse who told me to seek advice from a Bariatric social worker. I have not gone wacky-woo, I am physically ill and I only called you for medical help. Considering calling my PCP office, asking if I need a referral or if I can call the new gastroenterologist directly. No matter what that nurse says, I am NOT doing well, or at least I wasn't yesterday. Went and sat in the backyard in the fresh air, figured if I vomited back there I would not have carpeting to clean.

15. Oh, I read every day - it's been a favorite activity since about 4th grade. Mostly, I read in bed until I fall asleep. 12 pushups also completed.

And folks, I meant to share this yesterday but I had to banish my scale. It is such a tease! I know, I know...it's just the daily fluctuations but I don't want it to play with my head every day. So, I will try for a weekly rather than daily weigh in. I kept telling myself that was what I was going to do but there it has been every morning daring me to step on it.

I went to my 9 month post op appointment today, however I was wrong about the date! I’ve had it written down wrong for months. It’s next week.

I hit my May goal of 144 for this month since I lost another pound in 2 days. I hope I’m not dying lol. It is strange for me to lose quickly but I’ll take it.

I read at night and I do have a new book I want to get started on so I’ll do that tonight.

Gorgeous out here so going for a long walk.

Good luck MsGamgee on your surgery tomorrow! You must be really excited.

15. Read a Book-I've been listening to an audiobook-Tennet of Wildfell Hall.

I had my three month follow up today and my team feels that I'm on track. Just waiting to get the results from my blood work.

15 - Read... I have to read every day. I can't fall asleep unless I read at least a few pages. Currently I'm reading "Becoming" by Michelle Obama. Next up is a novel about Katherine of Aragon (Henry the 8th's first wife).

Doing my Clear Liquids today and the pico salax flush. Not much fun. Surgery is at 8:45 tomorrow morning. Wee-lings are being picked up by my MIL in an hour or so. EEEEEeeeeeee... this is really happening.

16. Listen to a podcast- Listening to Unspooled as I get ready. I'll probably listen to more podcasts on my commute.

At the halfway mark of the challenge. I'm 5 pounds down so I'm hoping to be another 7 pounds down by the end of the month. I've had a couple of slower weight loss weeks at just one pound per week so I'm hoping bumping up the exercise will help.

I'm listening to The Life Coach School podcast today, the episode is on "Why Change is Hard." Seems appropriate to our journey!

Checking in! *8 months post RNY*
I haven’t ran nearly as much as I planned this month. I’ve been eating well balanced pescatarian and vegetarian meals since the 1st. I meal prepped for my Myrtle Beach trip and didn’t stray from it (lost 6lbs while ON vacation).

My starting weight was 199lbs this month with an end goal of 187lbs. As of yesterday I’m 191lbs so I might hit my goal! I’m 26lbs away from goal weight. Here’s a pic of me on vacation a few days ago vs me in July of 2018 when I was 2 months away from my surgery date.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
