Oh so tight

Recommended Posts

I had my third fill yesterday with fluoroscopy. MY doctor told me I was really tight and that it was up to me - he could take some out or I could try it like this. I opted to try it tighter. I was able to get down some Soup last night, milk and fat free ice cream but I started getting the most agrresive hiccups I had ever had at one point and this was after taking too big a sip of crystal light. Is it going to get better? I am on liquids then mushies for a few more days but am feeling kind of scared by the hiccups. Is that my soft stop? Didn't seem so soft to me!

My last fill was too tight as well ... like you I got aggressive hiccups but then I seemed to get tighter to the point to where I couldn't even get Water down and oh the pain!! I went back 5 days later for an unfill. It isn't good to keep too tight of a fill because it can cause slips & erosion ... be careful!

It seems a little better this afternoon. I am going to wait and see if it loosens up when the swelling goes down.

I just went through this myself.

Only i didnt have problems early on like it seems you have. I didnt have problems until i got to solids. I couldnt keep solids down.

So be very careful . Dont keep it to tight too long to try to ride it out .

If your doc thought you were too tight in the beginning you probably were ?

Thats just my input. Its not fun to keep it tight

Let us know how your doing .

he didn't think it was too tight - only tight. He thought I would be fine after a few days of liquids but I think I have gotten swollen since then.

hi Karen,

everyone is different, but i tend to get tighter as the fill 'settles in' a few weeks later.

be careful. if you PB, try liquids for a day or so.

if you feel too tight, please get a slight unfill.

Thanks Losin - I haven't had the hiccup thing today. THat totally freaked me out last night. I really think it is better. I have no appetite but have been fine with the liquids all day. Probably, knowing my luck, I will have problems on thanksgiving day when my surgeon is away somewhere!

aww sorry i read it wrong. My only advice is if it gets to the point where you think your too tight you probably are. I waited and waited , probably too long try to wait it out .

Now i think i need a fill again LOL But want to wait until after the holidays.

Sounds like your doing better which is good

Good luck

Mindy

will you be up to solids by thanksgiving day ?

If so stick to soft, moist things until your sure.

If you think about it though most "traditional" thanksgiving meals are pretty soft foods , probably why they are so bad for us LOL

mmmm... love the 'soft' foods of turkey day.

stuffing with sweet potatoes (smothered in butter and brown sugar) on top. dont forget to mix in the cranberries. OMG ... drooooool

My usual advice from the doctor is 2 days liquids, 2 days mushies following a fill. His advice this time was since it was on the tight end to proceed with caution and if it felt too tight to stay on liquids for a few more days. I am going to try some pureed foods tomorrow and see where that gets me. I love sweet potatoes! I could just have that and be perfectly happy. Also, I am making a squash gratin dish which is quite mushy as well.

See I tend to get a tad looser after a few days and then moreso over the next week or two. Start with mushies and then try solids after a few days. If it won't work, then you'll need some out. So long as you can still drink liquids, you're not in danger yet.

I just successfully ate about 1/2 cup of egg salad for Breakfast so I think I am doing fine. Thanks so much for all of your support and advice! I panicked a little the first day!

it does sound like your doing well . however, still be careful. I was fine until I got to solids. so dont forget the rules especially the first few days of solids.

HTH

Sometimes I get "aggressive hiccups," too. Why is that? What causes them?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
