3 months post OP and 5 weeks pregnant

Recommended Posts

Like my title says; I'm 3 months post OP and I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant. Has anyone ever find themselves or know someone who's been in this situation? Was the pregnancy successful? My surgeon said while they recommend waiting 12 to 18 months post OP before getting pregnant, it's not impossible to do. I wanna know what to look forward to..... thanks in advance guys!

Couldn't you hold back and take contraception so that your surgery hasn't been for nothing...

Congratulations!! I have not experienced this before but I know MANY women who have been pregnant and not gained any weight, some that were overweight even loss. I would definitely talk to your nutritionist and your dietitian as you want to ensure that you are getting what you need for a healthy pregnancy. I would think that with a healthy, balanced diet, proper Vitamins and exercise that you can have a healthy, successful pregnancy with little to no weight gain. Please keep up posted. Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congrats! Just work closely with your OB and your bariatric surgeon and RD and you will do beautifully and have a bouncing healthy baby too! :)

And I too know many who got pg before the magic 1year mark and had healthy pregnancies and gorgeous babies. I also know normies who were mo and delivered healthy babies and lost weight through the pg. :) So cheers. Just don't lose focus, it's more important now that you stay sharp and follow your rules given to you by your team!

Congrats! I have nothing really to add (I don't have this experience or know anyone in this situation) but I wanted to wish you the best :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
