June 2019 sleevers

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! So I had my surgery as scheduled yesterday. Spent 3 hours in recovery bc of my sleep apnea, woke up to the cpap machine on my face and had a mini panic attack. Pain is okay, it’s bearable but a little uncomfortable. I’m trying to walk as much as I can. Hoping to go home today and begin the rest of my life :)

@NoMoore, how did your surgery go? I stayed about 24h in the hospital, was awake for most of it, walking, walking, and more walking!

how are you doing today?

CONGRATS TO ALL THE JUNE SLEEVERS!!

I just got my date. I'm barely June, but I'm June!

My date is June 27th. Pre-op is May 31st. My pre-op diet starts on the 13th.

I have a LOT of mixed feelings still. Feelings of failure, happiness, excitement. All mixed in together. It's kind of hard. But I'm ready to make the change. I've been considering WLS for over 5 years.

June 27th for myself, too! Coming up mighty quick. I'm finally starting to get nervous about the surgery, itself.

Some of the last of my prep has been gathering and preparing some "just in case" paperwork (will, list of accounts, advanced health care directive, etc.) and it kind of shakes the nerves a bit.

Months of preparation - losing 15% of my body weight, changing my diet to what they want me to aim for long term, starting to exercise regularly, etc. - means I'm feeling as mentally and physically prepared as I think I ever will be.

So I guess you could say, I want to get the surgery itself over with... while I still have the guts *rimshot*.

Also leave a copy of passwords with someone you can trust. My older son , the one who now is a angel, was our family computer guru, had a horrid time accessing things because He Took Them with HIM.

Hello,

I am 13 days post op and I'm doing pretty good. I'm on liquids only still for another few days and then I'm on to pureed food. I have already had some pureed food and I handled it pretty well.

I'm curious how everyone else is doing who is post op.

How long does your plan require that you be on liquids and what is the rest of it like?

I'm down 20 lbs since pre-op (9 since WLS)

You got this! The first days of the rest of your life are coming. I just said to myself prior to surgery, just let go and let God take it from here. Then I went one step at a time. I went almost 60 years without any type of surgery then in about 10 years I had 5 major surgeries and you just have to trust. Know it will be ok, and you will be better soon.

Day 6 of 10 day pre-op liquid diet. Surgery is Tuesday, anxiety setting in in full effect 😬
Same here... Surgery on Tuesday and I’m a ball of anxiety! I just keep thinking about how awesome things will be afterwards... Thinking about starting to pack stuff for the hospital to relax my nerves

So I’ve heard. My mom and sister both had the surgery recently... I was their through their struggles... I look forward to a time where this will be better and I’ll be in good health. I know the beginning will be challenging, but I’m choosing positive thinking. Good luck to everyone already sleeved and getting sleeved soon!!!

Ah maybe because I am on my iPad or something, but I am not sure how to reply to anyone’s post.

I am only 5 days post-op and I am craving all the things :( I am still on a full liquid diet until my follow-up appointment next Wednesday, but my Dr’s full liquid list includes baby food. I’m not sure how much longer I will last..struggling a bit over here.

Really. Cravings. Did you tell the doctor. You should have any cravings. There could be an issue with the sleeve. Like he didn’t cut enough of accurately. Talk to the doctor

Cravings are in the head and not the stomach. You need to drink more, often you feel that way because you are dehydrated. You need to focus on recovery and not food. Food is not your friend and never has been. Try deep breathing, walking and drinking lots of Protein.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
