I chose Dr. Ariel Ortiz with OCC. Soo happy with my decision. It was a good experience. I'm about 43 days out.

The staple and the stitches he has been doing for awhile. More recently he started adding a few stitches to anchor the stomach in place. This will keep us from getting hernias. (They cut a bunch of tissue to get the big part of the stomach out and it can leave it more free floating and can cause hernias.
This link explains what our surgeon does.

I know I just answered you in the other post, but thought I'd put it here too.
I went with Dr. Ariel Ortiz though OCC.
He has sooo many videos. his website is very informative. He shows a 360 YouTube video of him performing the surgery. And there is a private (and public) Facebook group where you can get answers to questions.

Cravings are in the head and not the stomach. You need to drink more, often you feel that way because you are dehydrated. You need to focus on recovery and not food. Food is not your friend and never has been. Try deep breathing, walking and drinking lots of protein.

    Hello,
I am 13 days post op and I'm doing pretty good. I'm on liquids only still for another few days and then I'm on to pureed food. I have already had some pureed food and I handled it pretty well.
I'm curious how everyone else is doing who is post op.
How long does your plan require that you be on liquids and what is the rest of it like?
    I'm down 20 lbs since pre-op (9 since WLS)

I had my surgery yesterday. Yesterday was rough. Nausea and pain. But today I'm doing well. Hopefully the worst is behind me.

Update: everything went well today, was actually up and walking the halls about two hours after getting in my room. Don’t get me wrong the pain  can be real. Especially the gas pain, but you know who told me what do when that happens? My WLC family here, so I got my butt up and started walking . It worked. Thank from the  bottom of my heart...   good night

Well I have been a member on here since February and I have really enjoyed lingering here nightly following everyone stories both pre and post surgery. Now it's time for me, two days out (5 June). But due to being member of this site I feel really good about Wednesday. Reading other's sharing their stories has help prepare me both mentally and physically. Thanks WLS family, meet you on the other side.

My surgery date is June 10. I'm going with my sister and she's doing it too. We just decided and got our date last Monday. I'm so nervous but excited.

Going to be great for both of you! Wish I had had a sister to share my joys and sorrows with, but I have found a lot of Bari'cousins on Bariatric Pal, so I have filled the gap God forgot to fill. I figure with HIM taking care of the Heavens and the Earth?---'my request may have been shunted to the side!?
