So, since I was to start on my pre-op diet today (and did), I figured that I'd use last weekend to indulge a little bit. I had dinner at Texas de Brazil, and it was fantastic. Additionally, I had some ice cream.

I'm wondering if anyone else had something like this, to kinda get it out of your system before putting yourself on the final path to your operation.

No. my surgeon warned me about having a blowout before the surgery, so I didn't do it. I transitioned for a month before the pre-op diet to eating like I'd be eating post-op to prepare myself. I wanted those memories of chocolates and pizzas long out of my system.

Oddly, my surgeon didn't warn against it. My mother who had the surgery six years ago suggested it, and I went to a restaurant that kinda was like the post-op diet, albeit with a bit higher portions. Yeah, the ice cream's a no-no post surgery, but good, lean protein... not so much.

A lot of people try this. If you run a search on the site you will find endless threads created about it. I did not attempt this. I also transitioned for a while to heathier versions of foods to prep for surgery.

Congrats you're in the home stretch now 🎇

Congrats on your surgery date.

Some of us have food funerals some of us don’t. We are all adults and make our own food choices. You get to decide when you are going to change your relationship with food. Your decisions will affect your WLS outcome from here on out.

I agree with this. I had food funerals for the three weeks between my approval and surgery date. It didn't hinder my success post WLS, but there are other who did not have food funerals, who have been equally successful.

I had a food funeral to end all food funerals, a week of over indulgence. So much so I gained 5 pounds. I only had a two day pre-op diet, so it was not enough time to lose what I gained. Luckily it did not end up complicating a thing and I went on to lose 114 pounds in 10 months.

Yeah, I gained about 10 lbs over the past week. Guaranteed most of it is Water retention. I expect it to drop off quickly with the Optifast.

I have been eating all my wants and I plan to have a good bye to real food before I am on the liquid diet! I plan to eat a steak and dessert💙 But I have been cutting back but eating everything I think I’ll miss😁

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
