At three months i had lost about 35 pounds. I did not have to do a pre-op diet so it was all after banding. I am at 43 pounds lost now. It is slowing down but still coming off. I love this band. Donna

Argh! I so happy for all of you who are really pulling it off, but pea-green with envy!

Yesterday was three months for me and I have lost 23 lbs. (The rest was lost pre-op). My body is just fighting me, fighting me, fighting me!!! It's SO aggravating!

It was 3 months for me last Tuesday. Sure wish I had the weight loss others have had, but after years of obesity I will take what I can get. I do not exercise either and I know that would help a lot. I am taking it 10 pounds at a time and sure wish I could break the "4" for 40 now. Getting closer.

Tomorrow is the three month mark since the start of my pre-op diet, and I've lost about 95 pounds so far. Before you get too excited you should realize that I still want to lose about the same as a lot of your starting weights! :omg:

I haven't had a fill yet since my progress has been steady and I haven't really been hungry (I have seen my doctor, though, and they agreed no fill for now). I still get full on 3/4 cup or so of food. The only thing that has given me problems so far is fresh veggies -- don't think I chewed them well enough. The only thing I've given up 100% is carbonated beverages, though I try to limit my sweets to 1 or 2 special occasions a week.

I can already feel a big difference in that it's easier to move around and such, and I've lost 2 pants sizes, but I still don't see it in the mirror all that much.

The Band works if you do your part!

35 lbs so far ( 3rd month). I have my 3rd fill 12/4 and I hope I've lost at least 5-10 more lbs. The 2nd fill didn't give me any restriction I guess cause I had lost 6lbs and the dr thought I was doing good. I am going to tell him that I am always hungry, but I'm trying hard to eat (trying, but not always) right and I exercise 5 days a wk.

I lost 50 pounds in 3.5 months. My doctor said that was very rare though. He said they consider losing 50 pounds in one year a success. So even though some of us have lost substantially more, if you go by what he said, you would be on track if you have only lost 12.5 pounds. I don't think most people (or anyone) would be happy with that, but just food for thought.

princesst: wow! 71lbs! congratulations! whats your exercise routine like? what was your starting weight? how tall are you?

sorry for the barrage of questions. were about the same age (im 26) and i just want to compare, i guess?

thanks in advance!

Dave01 adn KarenG. - congratulations! such an inspiration! :)

Hello!

I started out weighing 298.2lbs and I am currently 223.0lbs (75.2lbs as of today). I am 27 years old and 5'4". I have maybe worked out once or twice a week during these past 3 months, but have now committed my self to working out about 4-5 days a week. I think most of my success is contributed to the fact that I watch my carbs-I don't eat any bread, Pasta, or rice. I also measure all of my food before I eat it. It takes me 20-30 minutes to eat my 3oz meal.

It is so inspiring to see everyone do so well!!

Princesst

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
