Hi. So where are you in the process. I live in the Uk. Had a band fitted 5 years ago. Seems to be going ok. Like most people you get your ups and downs so a buddy is a great idea someone to hold your hand so to speak. Anyway if you want to chat I’m here. Andrew.

Had the band in 2010 revised 2015 and slipped again. Pending RNY revision and looking for buddies as well.

Hi Andrew [emoji112] I would love to chat. I'm just getting started honestly. I have had one visit with my nutritionist and labs done. I'm still a few months away but not really going as smoothly as I would have liked.

So what’s going wrong. When I was pre op they where more interested in my money ! I only had a pre op appointment then straight into surgery. Admittedly I didn’t have any other health issues thankfully. I must admit when I decided to have the op I just wanted to get on with it. Only had to wait approx 4 weeks. How much do you need to loose. I was a little worried about food prior and post operation minced up food ukkkk. As it turned out it wasn’t to bad. Always have the final goal in your mind. Just think how great you will look and feel once the weight goes. Only downside you have to go out and purchase loads of new clothes. Andrew

Surgery of this kind is always a bit scary. I had the band since 2010 and revised in 2015. I am pending RNY and working on getting mentally prepared for it.

Andrew- so true about the clothing. Made many a run to the second hand stores around my surgeon's office as my size went up and down. Only kept 30 lbs off but I am down 3 sizes solid and 4 is a bit tight these days. With the band wide open, it is expected.

I don't have a date yet. I think i have all my pre-op stuff done. I am going to email the case manager nurse and check. I didn't do so hot on the psych eval so they recommended therapy. Have been to 2 sessions so far and found out I don't need the therapist's recommendation to move forward. I have some other medical stuff that will take a week to finish off the medications and I want that completed before surgery is scheduled. Chances are it will be a while so i am going to find out.

Nothing worse than hanging around waiting for something to happen. Well impressed they are making you go through all those examinations with doctors ect.

Well im going to bed now it’s starts to get late here and I have work in the morning. So have a great day young lady and hopefully speak soon. Andrew

I am gained quite a bit of weight because I think I need to eat everything I won't be able to eat after surgery. Also it's hard when The waiting games for my insurance to cover my surgery I have to lose 15 lb before I even get the surgery. I wish I could just pay outright that would be sweet.

And for some reason the thought of buying all new clothes seems a little more enjoyable than your portraying in to be LOL

Hello. Hope your well today. So young lady. Stop binge eating your putting. All that good work to waste. Plus the more you eat the longer it's going to be before the insurance pays up

Thanks I am having a good day. And I have cut out the the binge eating but I have so many different things factoring and why I eat...you don't even know I'm completely changing my life in a matter of months

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
