Is 800 our target calorie intake ? I thought I read somewhere that we should do 500 calories a day for the first 3 months ?

I found this to be very helpful for me. Also, my nutritionist said I needed to add more due to my job (teaching) and having 12 hour days with 10k steps, plus working out 4-6 times a week. I aim for 1100-1300 calories a day and am doing great. 4 months out, down 93 pounds and 3 dress sizes. Hang in there! Take measurements every month! Nutrition Guidelines VSG.jpeg

Omg thank you so much !! I don’t have this in any of my materials ! I am big into following guidelines and this will be super helpful - I want to lose the weight healthfully but quickly . What I have learned is the goal is to max ur Protein in the most calorie efficient way and for sure that is Protein Shakes . Thanks for sharing this ! Great roadmap !

Also I do quite a bit of running around as well for my work , easily get 10k steps a day before doing my spin class 4x a week and yoga 1-2 days , plus riding my horses . Hoping to get back to that level of activity within the first month post op.. assume I should try to get that 1100-1300 cal level and try to work towards 100 g of Protein ? I burn like 400-500 cal in spin

No worries! I didnt have any either, and my nutritionist was basically like "try to get in about 400 calories and dont have more than 1/3 cup the first month. And I was STARVING due to how active I was, and faint feeling. I found this chart on one of my Facebook groups and had an ah-ha moment. I showed my basic mealplan to my nutritionist and she was like "of course thats great!" Thank God

Also I aim for 70g of Protein, and Im not able to get near that for withought a Protein Shake. I prefer that so I get more variety. Yes protein is important but so are carbs. As a swimmer and a coach I need carbs more than others. Protein is not the end all be all that WLS sometimes portrays. My levels are all normal if that helps

Sounds like I need a nutritionist 😩 no one has told me any of this. I also want to do it safely yet quickly. I have found that I’m scared to eat calories but with this new information I need to rethink my eating.

I do about 13k steps a day and stand 8-10 hours at work. Constantly moving. So I naturally thought eat less calories and burn more.

With all that activity, incidental or not, you definitely need more than 400 calories a day, check back in with your dietician, be very specific with them about your incidental activity as well as any exercise you do.

Absolutely, it's good you have taken the feedback on board, make sure you follow through with seeing the nutritionist or dietician.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
