hey everyone. I had surgery November 13. I just started actually eating things like chicken veggies eggs. And it still really hurts going down. I’m trying to chew forever and I feel like I’m chewing enough but it can get really painful to eat. Is this normal ? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I don’t think it’s new life. Lol at least I hope not we’re stoll fresh. I haven’t felt full yet either which worries me too. I don’t feel hungry either. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Are you having difficulties swallowing too?

The only time I have difficulty is when I’m drinking. If I try more than a sip at a time it hurts. I just wanna chug water!

Hope you all start feeling better. I’m five months out from being sleeved and I remember in the beginning how tender you have to be to your new tummy. It will get better and easier with time.

Thank you I do too. It’s more painful going down not the actual tummy once it gets there I’m fine. Lol I actually think I’m just not chewing enough. 😩

Yes. I had pain with swallowing and going down in the beginning if I swallowed too big a bite and didn’t chew enough. The pain was bad. I hope things gets easier for you soon.

Could you start with softer foods. I was sleeved 10/29 and I started soft foods last week. My doc wants us to start with well cooked soft veggies (I'm having luck with zucchini, sweet potatoes, and spinach so far) and really soft fish/eggs. I don't eat chicken, but the doc doesn't want us on chicken until a few weeks later because it is harder to swallow/digest. And raw veggies and some cooked veggies (broccoli, for example) are a no-go for now. And my doc said if something doesn't go down well to wait a few more weeks to try that food. Good luck.

I’m 4 months post op and was experiencing pain when I ate when I was a few weeks post op too. My dr had stated that it may be too early for me to have for some meats. I had to give it a few more weeks before my stomach was ready for meat. I stuck to softer foods like yogurt, eggs, banana, etc.
hope you feel better

I was sleeved on March 5 and yes at the beginning is really tough, try having really small bites I also discovered that there are just some food that just dont agree with me anymore anyway talk to your Dr express your concern just to be on the safe side it does get better way better but there are food you won’t be able to handle anymore small price to pay for a new healthy life

I was sleeved on 11/8. I was told not to try chicken yet, but I am up to fish (tilapia was good, salmon disgusted me, and tuna was ok, it felt heavy). Some things go down very easily, like ricotta cheese and lentil Soup, other things, like eggs, are a little bit of a struggle still. I have a shake for lunch and a Protein cocoa at night so that I can make do with the very small amounts of protein I can consume for Breakfast and dinner with "real food". Maybe try that, and try to back off the chicken for a while?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
