What do you take for nausea?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 3 months post surgery. I take Omeprazole every morning but I still get nauseous at different points in the day. Haven't figured out the trigger but in the meantime I need to find something to address the symptom. Pepto Bismol was my go-to before surgery but it doesn't seem to help now. Any recommendations?

Are you taking the Omeprazole to help with morning nausea? My doctor took me off it and now only use it as needed. I have used it more in the last week because of my office eating (we've had a catered lunch everyday) and it has been my go to.

Early after my surgery I had to move from taking it in the evenings to taking it just after symptoms presented.

I'm taking it in the morning because that's what the Dr told me to do after surgery. I stopped taking it a couple days later because I just couldn't keep anything down at all, especially about pills. Ended up having fluids pumped in me. Dr said to take the Omeprazole because it will help. And in general it does seem to help but not completely. I am absolutely miserable. And of course it's the weekend so the Doctors aren't around. I'm having a really tough time seeing the benefits outweigh the hardships of this surgery. :(

Zofran from the begining, Zofran still, and the omeprazole made me puke last evening. I DO NOT LIJE OR APPRECIATE THAT STUFF! I was on it from my gastroenterologist when Hector my baby gastric, ulcer was discovered last December, and was back on it( Doctor Needleman &staff#s idea post surgery) and I now have 5 additional, 2 in my RNY pouch, 3 on the back wall of the jejunem. Why will no one listen when I shout that it IS NOT gastropotective for ME? Dang it, let me go back to my Dexilent, that did work!

@frust8 you poor thing! I've been seeing some of your posts and I'm so sorry to hear all the struggles you've been having. Sure hope things turn around soon for you. Thanks for mentioning Zofran and Dexilent. I will bring them up to be Dr.

I went through a period where I drank a lot of mint tea. It helped. Ginger tea can be good too. Good luck. I’m sure it will pass.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
