Question for those VGSers who had little or no hair loss

Recommended Posts

For those VGSers who have had little or no hair loss and are at least 6 months post-op.......

1. How was your Protein intake and hydration during your 1-month post-op period? Did you reach or surpass protein and Water intake goals?

2. Did you take bariatric Vitamins and supplements? Which supplements?

Thanks!

Around 30-45g protein daily, around 48 oz Water daily

2. Did you take bariatric Vitamins and supplements? Which supplements?

Not bariatric specific no, just the list of recommended supplements with the addition of LLysine

Thanks!

I'm not sure if I"ve had much Hair loss or not because I have dreads. My hair feels the same though.

I would get about 45-60g Protein a day. My Water intake varied from 40oz to 64oz.

I know they say surgeries, major weight loss, etc can effect your hair loss. Something about the trauma and messing up something. I've read the information over and over I just can't remember the technical terms. Anyway in the past 5 years I've had I think 5 surgeries. So, I'm not sure if my body is used to the trauma or what.

I've never had them before, and they are only 7 months old. It's different that's for sure. Have you or were you able to notice any Hair loss?

Mine are 20 yrs old so I was definitely worried about losing them so I started doing a ton of research and found research about Telogen Effluvium and LLysine so I started supplementing with that very early on. I've only had very very very minor thinning but no losses. I also went super low manipulation for about 8 months.

I have SisterLocks and am somewhat concerned (locked for 6 years, 450-500). I have my hair re-tightened every 4-5 weeks. I may have to rethink that, though I really hate how they look with new growth. I will investigate L-Lysine. Thanks for posting, GT! Btw, you locks are lovely!

The only thing I do with mine is seperate them after a few days. I palm roll from time to time but other than washing them, I don't mess with them.

Thank you!!!

And your stylist (if you use one) can be very gentle, maybe two directional tightening instead of four, etc.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
