Fitness tracker

Recommended Posts

My advice is to figure out what you want from it. If having a semi-accurate heart rate monitor with you all the time is important, that'll drive you one way. If having something that doesn't get in your way and maybe isn't even obviously a tracker is important, that'll drive you another way. Do you need it to serve as a watch? How important is sleep tracking? How many other things do you need it to interact with--a scale or your smart lightbulbs or something? (Look, I don't judge.)

The apps vary in quality, but most of the big names integrate with MyFitnessPal, if that's important to you.

I'm pretty into my Misfit Ray which I can wear with a Bracelet on the same wrist. It seems accurate enough on the step counts. The app is OK? It's not as fully featured as, say, the Fitbit app, but it works well enough for me. I can't get the swimming functionality to work right, but that might just be that I'm a crappy swimmer, with bad form. 😂 It talks to MyFitnessPal and Baritastic. It seems to give me a decent read on sleep time and quality.

I've tried out several, so depending what you need I might be able to point you in the right direction, if the Ray isn't the right tracker for you.

I agree with@crankymagpie, you need to decide what features you want. I have a garmin, misfit and 2 samsung gears.

My favorite is the misfit, it syncs and looks like a real watch with the analog face. But when I volunteer I like my samsung because of the other app features.

Research them, compare reviews and find one that works for you.

I have a misfit phase and ray for date nights and swimming. They are all Water resistant, but don't want to get my leather strap wet.

The ray I can wear on my wrist, ankle or necklace.

Downside they really only provide progress and reminders not heart rate.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
