My surgery date is coming

@CRD1981 it gets easier. When I started the modified, the hardest part for me was friends wanting to go out to dinner and not knowing what I was doing. I initially didn’t want to tell a lot of people because of the negative comments. But then I told a few and now they are supportive. But I think starting the modified diet helped me ease into the full liquid. But the sf Jello and the sf popsicles have helped me so much. And I have been using the Premier Protein shakes.

The hardest part for me is the constant running to the bathroom, the arthritis in my left knee makes me not move as fast as I used to and not being able to take the meds I used to because of the RnY that I am going to have, means I have had to switch to a topical treatment for it and it is not working as well. I know, like everything else I have to give it time. I have taken to setting a timer when I start drinking so every 90 minutes whether I have to go or not I am getting up and going to the bathroom. I have started my Short Term Disability from my job because there is no way I can work in a call center and be able to run to the bathroom as often as I need with this diet.

Since I work multiple jobs being home lets me work on the CEUs I have to work on for the part time job I have coming up for tax season. I find that keeping busy is the key. Finding something to take my mind off of what I am doing, is the key. A good movie or something to binge watch on Netflix works as well.

I only told a handful of my friends and family that I was having the procedure because I don't want to hear all that negativity myself

I have some family that has no clue yet, some have an idea and some know all the details. It is the same with my friends. I plan to make a major announcement on Facebook after the fact so no one can say anything to change my mind as it will be already done at that point.

I'm the 27th. Just got my date yesterday. They had some OR time and sticking me in. I hadnt expected until maybe January. Was pushing back because I have a large family and nervous about making everything perfect for holidays. Started liquids today. Never realized how lovely chicken broth is. 10 days notice is fast, but i wish it were tomorrw now!! Get it over with.

Okay, so I really thought I wouldn't make it through the liquid diet. To be honest, the first 4 days were HELL! The hunger, cravings, and fatigue WAS REAL! I think I am finally in ketosis though (day 5) - no hunger, no cravings, increased energy, etc. (That or I am just delusional now.) My liquid diet consists of 5 Protein Shakes and "unlimited" Clear Liquids (broth, crystal light, sugar free popsicles, sugar-free Powerade, etc.) Knowing me, I HAD to make a schedule so I would be able to pace myself and just tell myself "you can make it one more hour."

Of course I continuously drink Water throughout the day. I am in bed by 9:00. Other than the occasional popsicle thrown in, I have been sticking to this schedule and it works. Lots of sleep has helped too - if you are asleep, you aren't hungry  Just 8 more days to go for me (September 26th surgery).

Which Protein Shake did you find you like the most? I'm dreading it as well.

Premier. I tried Bariatric Advantage and I couldn’t handle it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
