ugh... just ready to cry/cave in/give up/whatever...

Gained more weight, again. 224.2 lbs / 27.9% bf Monday, 225.8 lbs / 27.5% bf Tuesday, 226.6 lbs / 27.3% Today.

I know fluctuations are normal. I see that my body fat % is dropping even though the weight is climbing.
I'm hoping it's another "fill and flush"... because if it keeps going up I'm going to lose my mind.

sigh... just keep swimming right...

I know the feeling Matt ... hang in there!

I get wanting to eat from places that represent the local cuisine/restaurants -- it is interesting and fun. But, the good thing, though it is really hard to convince yourself to do--some of the places now sell hummus and veggies, hard boiled eggs, things like that. I never sounds appealing but afterwards, I'm always really happy that I did. IF I can convince myself to buy those. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. lol

Yes! There are definitely plenty of good choice that can be made at airports. The whole Keto trend is good for us bariatric folks, with cheese, Jerky, nuts being readily available. But as we know, having good choice available doesn't always lead us to make those good choices

Ok, well the OMAD thing is not for me. First of all I flunked and it set me up to be bad--with kind of a binge rebound (involving Taco Hell crispy tacos). *sigh*

First off by the time I got to Outback I was Starvin Marvin (at 5pm--first meal). And the lobster was tiny--like 2oz cooked. So I ate some of Mr. F's prime rib, but felt bad about it, so I probably only ate 1.5oz total. Which "should" have been enough, except I also shared a little of his salad and a couple bites of broccoli. And it would have filled most of you--but not my beast of a tummy. And the food was crappy, and so expensive, I didn't want to order anything else.

By 9:30 after trivia was over and a glass of wine in my bellah (btw, the wine is bye-bye for a while now--until Mr. F's birthday next month)--I was ready to sacrifice and devour small animals. Nothing would stop me from my appointed rounds!!! I ate 2+ crispy tacos. :( :57_cry: Calories for the day were well over my limits and I'm up a lb today. I deserve it--even though I walked yesterday.

So I think what works best for me is doing my consistent meals. I may not do as "big" of a production for each meal, but I think I will get my 3 meals in over the 14/10 to 16/8 timeframe and continue to do ADF calorie restriction. I have done well with it in the past. And as much as I want to be one of you 20/4 or 23/1s, I can't make it work. It opens up the binge monster which I avoid at all costs whenever possible!!

Ugh, we have all had those days :(

I'm going through a very unmotivated phase right now. I just want to eat food I want and not lean Proteins and leafy greens. And I'm paying for it, ugh. I'm up over 4 lbs from my low :(

I'm hoping some of that is from alcohol. I had quite a few beers the other night, that was followed by a late night fast food run. (I was with colleagues, not my idea, but I participated ).

I don't know right now, I really don't feel like getting back on the chicken breast train. Doing at least moderate IF is usually pretty easy. I'm rarely hungry before noon. But the whole good choice thing, meh ...

So I'm thinking of doing a little experiment. What if I eat what I want for the most part. But I have no alcohol, and make sure I get in my fluids. What will happen to my weight? My cals should still be well under 1000. I'd like to know where I can find that line between losing, maintaining and gaining.

I'm not sure why I am suddenly so unmotivated. Is it just "diet" fatigue? Is it typical as people get near goal? Is it because of all the positive feedback I've gotten recently on how I look? Is it because my plastics I had wanted this fall is now postponed until who knows when because of my work schedule?

Yes, yes and yes! This is why I've been going to a therapist all along. I always do well for 6-8 months and then everything goes to hell. I haven't hit that quite yet, but I am slipping. So far the therapist keeps commenting that we really don't have anything to work on but I want her on the hook when I start falling apart again. And I haven't been nearly as strict as you were.

I saw a joke on FB yesterday:

If you had to choose between tacos and being skinny - what kind of tacos would you choose? soft or hard shell?

If it was that level of choice... those tacos better be soft wrapped around hard... LOL

Dammit, now I want tacos.

Love the taco choice! lol

Matt Z it sounds like you are getting bored with your options, which we all do. Can you shake it up a bit? I had also gotten real tired of chicken breasts but ground turkey and ground chicken can be another great option. Thai lettuce wraps, meatloaf, anything you could have made with ground beef, you can do with ground turkey. And the old Ricotta Bake meal is still always good, and got a lot of people through the pureed stage easily. Do people still share recipes?

Oh, and from previous threads on this site, a lot of people were able to break through stalls by adding more Protein. Sometimes you actually have to eat more to lose weight! Bizarre but I've seen enough comments on it.

I'm confused, where did you get the idea that I'm bored with my options?
Honestly curious.

I think maybe you and I have similar triggers. :( Dayum, I wouldn't wish that on anyone! haha!

It really sounds like you're at burnout phase. ((hugs)) I think you should try doing your moderate approach to IF like 14-16hour fasts, then eat regularly, following your surgeon's rules: Protein first, low glycemic veg and fat, plus carbs at the end if you still have room or want them and see how it goes. Quit ordering off the appetizer menu, quit ordering chicken if that's not what you want...And keep your cals in the 800-1000 range-ish. No beer or alcohol. *sniff* Cuz you know, misreh loves company! ;) And keep track of it here!

I think that's the cool thing about this thread is that we are kind of n=? how many are doing IF from this thread and we should all post our experiences so others might learn or have a light bulb moment. You know?

I def think your weight gain is beer related and if you go clean for the next 3-4 days you will be down those 4 and who knows, maybe another one as well?

UGGGGGH on the late night food runs! I swear I thought about you as we were sitting in Taco Bell last night. LOL.

Oh and can I just say this cup of unflavored, unsweetened, green tea tastes like hay? (or maybe ass...not sure which)

Find yourself a loose leaf Oolong, or Ceylon tea, so tasty!

I don't mind a green, but it needs a touch of sweetness added to it personally.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
