Hey guys,

I’m new to the site, I’m 3 weeks post op. I have been on liquids as a choice. However I’ve wanted to begin eating. I’ve been consistent in weight loss daily and I’ve exercised by walking for 20 minutes. I want a meatball but I’m afraid. Does anyone have ideas?

Congrats on your surgery, sounds like you're doing well.

I'd start a little "softer" than a meatball. Maybe a soft-scrambled egg, applesauce or mashed potatoes. Good luck!

You are only 3 weeks post op you should not be eating any solids. Meatballs should not be introduced into your stomach at this point. Talk to your team about it.

Remember, everyones plan is different. My plan allows for adding textures like lean ground beef, shredded chicken or pork , and flaky fish starting in week 3.

@photogirl70 Yes, but the OP has not progressed past liquids, so introducing solids FIRST would be a horrid suggestion. Her stomach is only used to liquid and no one can predict the reaction based on what a plan allows.

Take it slowly, some thicker pureed Soups, refried Beans, cottage/ricotta cheese, yogurts, then pureed meats, soft baked fish. Only try a teaspoon at a time and wait 5 minutes, then another teaspoon. Progress from there.

Thank you guys. Keep them coming. I’m going to see my Dr. on the 28th of August. This is very helpful bc I can come up with questions. Thanks again

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
