Just got approval!! Any October sleevers out there?

Recommended Posts

I have one more appt oct 4 then just approval and a date ..... hoping for October. Fingers crossed. Very excited. I do have a few questions if any has been thru this...I take a medication with no tablet alternative. Cymbalta....then I read the side effects of weaning off ...omg. They sound worse than most diseases. So, anyone know of an alternative or a compounding version that fits our brief???? Would enjoy any and all ideas.

I would ask your prescribing doctor for an alternative and explain to him/her you can’t take pills after your surgery and need an alternative .. just until you’ve healed enough to swallow the regular cymbalta.

Oct 1 for me! I had my pre-op class and pre-op clinic appt today. I started my pre-op diet yesterday, it's high protein/low carb. It started rough but it's better today. 12 days to go!

So annoyed. Just got my surgery moved out due to booking issues. Nothing I have done. Now looking like February. So upset right now
Sorry to hear that! That really sucks. But February will be here before you know it!

I posted in the other October sleever thread (the one that is labeled "2018," which will make it less confusing if we stay in touch through 2019, which is why I stopped posting over here in this thread until now) with a list of the October sleevers and their surgery dates, so people can know who their surgery buddies are.

Welp, I am an October sleever no more. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea during my sleep study, so now I have to wear the CPAP for 30 days and receive a clearance for my pulmonary doctor before I am cleared. My follow up with him is the end of October; therefore, I will more than likely end up in November baring nothing happens with my EGD Wednesday. I am really low key disgusted, but it is what it is. I can't even take my class while i log my 30 days using the CPAP... I really wish I could. It has been my pleasure being amongst you Octobers ;-) Best of luck to you all!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
