I just signed up for a virtual run and thought this may be something others would be interested in. You sign up just like you would for a regular 5k race, but you can do it on your own, outside or in a gym, and log your hours when you're done. No pressure!

I decided to do it to keep myself motivated to exercise and run, and also to try to get some local running buddies to train with. (It worked, I have a few people who are interested in running or walking!) I work every other weekend and many of the 5K's that are local to me wind up being on my work days, so I thought this would be a great way to do it at a time that is convenient for me.

See below for the link/URL to The Great pumpkin Virtual Run or Walk if anyone is interested. For this race you get a link to share when you register, and if 5 or more people use it to join, you get a $20 refund of your race fee. I challenged my friends on Facebook to motivate others using their link like I am doing and then donate any refunds to a charity. I'm giving my refund if I get it to a local foundation for cancer care.

If you need an excuse or motivation to get moving, here it is!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
