So I am confused. My plan says no more than 2-5oz of liquid at a time, but I need to get at least 64 ounces of liquids down including my 45-60 grams of Protein.

How do I only have 2 ounces at a time but also meet my goals? Anyone else having this confusion?

I just listen to my body. At the start of each stage I've had a hard time getting the proper amounts in but towards the end of the stage it all works out. I'm struggling right now on my 5th day with mushy foods. I feel so full all day long and I've been 10-20oz/grams down from goal. I can't believe how few calories I'm getting in and still feeling ok.

I do believe that the 2-5oz is for meals. For me it included Protein Shakes, Kiefer, Bone Broth, Jello, ect. I set a timer though for my fluids until it became a habit. Fluids would include Water, caffeine free tea, crystal light, ect. I sipped my drink every 3-5mins. I suppose you could drink 2-5oz every 15 mins if you wanted. I found it easier to sip more frequently.

My post op plan is no more than 2 ounces every 15 minutes but my total liquid is 64 like you. I was told it might take a few weeks to even get to that total, which it has. But they told me to count all liquids towards the total goal. So I add all my liquids to reach try to reach the 64 total ounces and I try to get as much protein in (still haven't gotten more than 50 in a day)
Hopes this helps...just keep sipping!

2oz in 15 minutes. Ok that makes more sense. I thought they meant per meal. Like only have 2oz of your Protein Shake for Breakfast. Basically just spread it out over a longer time period

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
