I’m having bypass on August 1st. Just a few days away lots of mixed emotions.....anxious, scared, and excited all at the same time.
Headed home from work to prep my bag for the hospital.

Goodluck and let us know how its going. I am a few weeks behind you on the 14th

I'm August 6th, on pre-op diet and would love a buddy❣️❣️

Hellllloooo,

I am also a August 6 baby , I’m super excited starting to prepare my house for my new lifestyle , I’m in San Diego , Kaiser my provider, and I have decided on the sleeve. I’d love to here about your journey , weight loss, exercise, why you chose your particular surgery , I.e bypass

or sleeve

I'm on Aug 6th, converting from sleeve to bypass. This time, no preop diet other than clears the day before.

My surgery is scheduled for August 23. Next Thursday I start the liquid diet.

You don’t have to answer this but why did you decide to convert

I got my sleeve in December 2013 at 315 lbs. Pretty strict for about 10 months. Next holidays, added some goodies and seemed to be able to maintain (had gotten to 210). Never got below that despite being active, not snacking, drinking only water, not drinking with meals, and eating appropriate portions. For my system, just eating less and exercising isn't enough. I'm at 250 now, less active due to work and caring for my mom who can't be left alone. Surgeon said even if I went back to super strict on the eating, I would lose some but he wants me comfortably below 200 and said I would need the bypass to have hope of getting there and staying there. Eating less and exercising didn't work before the sleeve, maybe I should have considered that having the sleeve wouldn't be much different for me. Hopefully having the added component of malabsorption plus the knowledge that I need to maintain a decently strict lifelong meal plan, will be what works for me.

And if you need emotional. support, we are always here on Bariatric Pal. You are never all alone as long,as you have friends and you are among a bunch, here.
Reach out whenever you need us, okay?????

I'm so glad to have found this site. As I'm sure all of you know, this is such a journey full of literally every emotion all at once and sometimes one can feel alone at times going through the process like I do, at times. Finding somewhere to talk to everyone about my own personal journey where there is no judgment and nothing but support is priceless. Many of my visits at the bariatric weight control center urged me to try out their in-person support groups, and I definitely would go if it wasn't over an hour away from my house as it is - and all of you guys have been amazing at being a support group and, even though I'm still new here, I want to thank you all. I've seen nothing but positive comments and feedback from everyone so far. Ever since I knew I was taking this journey I've become almost obsessed with watching testimonials on youtube and reading success stories that I felt like I was part of almost a sisterhood/brotherhood/family of people (sounds silly, I'm sure lol). But it's true - everyone here will know at least in some way, shape, or form what we're each going through and that's a very awesome thing to be part of a community of. I do have a boyfriend who is supportive of my decision, but much of this process I feel he is not understanding of and I will even be at the hospital alone because he will have to be home watching my son before surgery and after and knowing I Have you guys to reach out to helps a lot.

I rambled, I do that sometimes lol. Maybe it's because I'm emotional, or I've had my last cup of coffee (I'm giving it up a few days before my pre op diet begins, to get a head start), but thank you all for being totally awesome :)

I applaud you for taking the necessary steps to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

@Malcy and @Badwolf523 how is the pre op diet going for you two? I’ve heard that only the first or second day is hard then you just get used to it.

I have to say I agree. I feel like it's as much of a mental challenge than anything.
