    Made my decision

Hello everyone !!🌸 I finally made my decision to have the Bypass, I have an appointment with my surgeon on July 3, 2018 . I decided on the bypass because I felt it would be the most effective in my weight loss journey . I at times suffer from heart burn and I have heardvthat he sleeve could possible make this worse. Also I have over a 100 lbs to drop and I believe the bypass would be a better tool to help me accomplish this goal . Prior to my 24 week required classes I weighed 336, I am now 305. My BMI is around 48 , and I am 5’7. I’m thinking my surgery will be late July or early August . My Doctor is Dr.Zorn And has done Bariatric surgeries for many years and has earned him the reputation of being one of Southern California’s most experienced Bariatric surgeons , so I feel like I’m once good hands . Anyone abt to share their bypass experience ie. weight loss , other body changes, malabsorption, hair loss etc

    The deed is done!!!

Hello everyone !! So I had my surgery on August 6 in San Diego , I’m feeling good but in the last couple of days I’ve been feeling a little tired. My incisions are basically healed and during this whole process I did not require any narcotics, only Tylenol , but at this point I have no pain/soreness . I have resumed my walking and stairs , I just need to build my endurance. I started b12 yesterday so hopefully it starts to work soon . I’m doing my best with my water and protein shakes , but I cannot tolerate the broth, so I’ll continue to work on that 😬. Btw I had the sleeve and so far I’m happy with the weight loss results , I’ll list my stats below Highest weight: 336 lbs Pre surgery weight : 298 current weight : 281 my goal weight is 190 ithanks everyone for all of your support Im 5’6

Yeah no meds , the only discomfort I had was the gas , and pretty much walking was the solution , I am definitely grateful things went so smooth, I just gotta get more energy , but I’m listening to my body and just resting when my body says rest , thanks for your well wishes

    August surgery ppl

Hey everyone !! I had surgery 8/6 will be in the hospital until 8/8 . I’m doing well , I also had a hernia in which doc repaired while doing vsg. I’m having no pain just bloated so I’ve been walking like crazy and I have to say I feel better, I’ve only had ice chips which I tolerated well , no real food since Saturday and I don’t really feel hungry , poor to surgery I would have been hangry. Last nigh I had some nausea but nurse gave me something for that and Tylenol which has all done the trick . The whole experience has not been bad and I’m grateful .

So I’m preparing for surgery , my date is August 6. Yeseterday I went shopping and purchased things I will need at the hospital , as well as things I will need once I return from the hospital. Since I started this journey I’ve started routine workouts and I’ve done really well I have been able to drop 35 lbs, My concern is shortly after surgery my exercise routine will be reduced , and waking will be the only thing I can do for a while. Just wanting to know how long did you guys need to wait before you started cardio, stairs , fast pace walks. Please let me know ,smooches ♥️

    I feel scared and ashamed...

My Surgery is also August 6, I’m a kaiser patient in San Diego . I totally relate to the shame , It has often crossed my mind , how did I let it get this bad, that I’m having, Approx 80% o my stomach removed , but I try and stay mindful that every second is a chance to turn it all around . I’m going to take what I’ve learned in my 6 mos kaiser classes and continue to appy it to my life . And I tell myself I can do this 💪🏾

  22. Beautfully Flawed

    The time has come

So I finally received my surgery date, August 1!!! I’m super excited , this journey has certainly been eye opening . Initially when I started the Kaiser 24 week program , I wasn’t excited about going to the required classes , but once I started and realized that this journey is not only about food, it’s about why I chose certain foods, why food was so powerful it could change my mood, why did I need food to change what I was feeling and at last realizingvthat excercise was key in managing my depression . I now know if I was told that I could have had wls within the first few weeks of my initial evaluation , I would have not succeeded. I am now mindful of triggers, and moods that make me want to eat and i have tools that help me change that mindset and I am so grateful, I feel like I now have the tools I need to be successful. Just wondering does anyone else have a August date, anyone’s journey similar to mine , please respond to my post , would love to hear your stories smooches 💋

    Oops! Changed my mind

Hello everyone !!🌸 Sooooo, in my last post I stated I had chosen the bypass surgery , well after speaking to my psychiatrist I decided it would be in my best interest to go with the sleeve. And this is why , I have the diagnosis of major depressive disorder and I am currently on a very good med regimen, my mental health is very important to me , I’ve had a lot of ups and downs , and now that my mood is stable and I’m enjoying life , if possible I don’t want to risk it. My Psychiatrist was concerned that with the bypass malabsorption is a high possibility , and although the sleeve has that risk as well , the risk are greater with the bypass . So with that being said having the bypass would possibly put my at risk of not absorbing the antidepressant meds that I need to have quality of life . So the sleeve it is , anyone had this same or similar issue? And also any San Diego July sleevers in the house. Let me know whatcha think

    Oops! Changed my mind

Nope no gerd and I am pre diabetic, with no meds needed
  25. Beautfully Flawed

    Oops! Changed my mind

I am currently taking Wellbutrin er 300 mg per day . I am confident that my Psychiatrist has strong knowledge how my particular med is broke down into the system , also she has experience with Bariatric patients . She has been my psychiatrist for quite sometime and has seen me through some really dark times and I fully trust her, because of our history I’m not going to stop trusting in her now . Btw when I spoke to my surgeon regarding the antidepressant he did not disagree that the absorption of the Wellbutrin could possibly be an issue , he agreed that the sleeve would perhaps be the better choice , so here we are🌸
