For those with a 10cc Band

Recommended Posts

But after this fill, even though it is just 1cc, I remind myself that I could seriously damage my body, band, port, etc. if I don't follow the rules. If I psych myself out that I'm doing the right thing for my new stomach, it tends to work.

That is exactly what I do!! I had to be unfilled early last month because I didn't chew well enough and caused a lot of irritation. I know that I can eat almost anything now and so when I get my fill on Dec. 21 that is exactly what I am going to tell myself. That is what I did when i got my first fill. I just told myself that I was not going to be able to eat very much or be able to eat certain foods so I didn't even try. Gosh the mind is a powerful thing!

I was banded 8/14 with a 10 cc band. My first two fills were 1 cc each then third and fourth were 1/2 cc at a time. With the 3 cc total I feel restriction. I'm going to wait a month or so then go for a little tweeking if needed. Down 30# since 8/14. I don't feel that is bad - the slower the better.

I was banded 8/22and have a 10cc band. Got my first fill two week ago for about 4cc worth. Still don't feel a restriction. I see the doctor again the end of January and am trying to decide if I want to wait that long for a third fill.

I'm lucky - I felt restriction right off the bat (they put 2cc's in right at surgery). I got another 1.2cc's for a total of 3.2 and I could really feel the difference.

Maybe I've just got more fat pad around my stomach, but my band's been pretty comfy and doing it's job from the beginning. I don't get PB's etc. but it definitely tells me when I'm not behaving well!

I'm a lucky bandster!

Salsa, what happened that you needed an unfill? I hadn't heard. Hope you're doing okay!

Early in November, my teeth went on strike and didn't chew the Boca burger that i was eating. I didn't PB (and i think it would have been better if I had) but instead it got lodged and irritated my esophogus to the point of almost being swollen shut. Within a matter of 4 days I couldn't even get liquids down, they would just hover in my throat. So my doc unfilled me to remove any potential for further irritation. So I have been unfilled since November 8. At first it was fine, but the last 2 weeks have been HELL. I am constantly hungry, but through dedication and will power I have managed to lose 10 pounds since being unfilled. I can't imagine what is going to happen when the band is actually doing its job again!

10cc band not filled during surgery. 6 weeks after placement received 6cc's. Going for 2nd fill on 12/28 since I can eat more than a cup of food at a time. Down 55 lbs since August.

I have 3ccs and am feeling pretty good restriction I think I need a little more because I am still eating more than 1 cup but I am down to not being able to eat any bread, Pasta or rice. Which I really can't complain about I guess since I am loosing.

I have a 10cc band.

1st fill - 5 cc's

2nd fill was under surgery when he had to fix a flipped port - 7 cc's which was too tight so I had to go for an unfill which put me at 4.5 cc's.

3rd fill - 5.5 cc's and I feel pretty tight. I can only eat certain foods and I can't eat anything except for hot oatmeal in the morning. Any meat I try to eat, it's only 3 bites and I am done.

I go for my 4th fill next week!

Wow you are getting another fill and are that tight? I HATE how tight I am. After my first fill I was not restricted at all, but was tight enough to NEVER feel hungry, so it worked. After I had to be unfilled (due to not chewing well enough) the hunger came back. Now I have a new fill, and it is too tight for me. For at least the first week I couldn't even get down potatoes. chicken would be okay if I went really slowly. I am too afraid to try bread and Pasta, and rice is out of the question. I had problems with rice even when I was completely unfilled. It is funny how each of us tolerate things at different levels. They want me to comeback in and get a new fill in 3 weeks. I called today and said NO THANKS. Well, good luck with your fill. How many calories can you get in when you are tight. I struggle to get to 800.

I am up to 8cc's and Sometimes I feel restriction. I'd better find my spot soon, don't have much room left.

I am still able to eat more than a cup of food and have very little problems eating most foods. I am a bit tighter in the morning, but I can still get down most foods with no problems. I have had two fills so far...First one I received 4cc's and the second one they added another 1.5cc's for a total fill of 5.5 cc's. I need to book in for another one to start moving this scale. :cry

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
