Marginal/anastomotic ulcer anyone?

Recommended Posts

That sounds possible for sure. Please take it easy and seek medical attention on your time line as tis surgery can be dangerous and you know your body better then anyone else. I cannot tell you how many ER visits I had and the one where my surgeon told me that I did not need to go was the one where the hospital admitted me and found the major issues.

Hopefully all goes well the whole program is certainly an adjustment for sure.

Yeah I have been living in my body for yeatrs and years. And often I think of song titles, maybe music overload but. Conway Twitty had a hit" You've never come this far before", a minor hit but still there!

My husband likes Conway Twitty and my ringtone in his phone is HELLO DARLIN .

I ❤this! Never met him but Wow-That Voice! Really enjoy what I call "purrie" voices. Kind of like a tomcat purring.🐯

Well I see my surgeon this afternoon , I believe 1:45 but I always show up early. Some family members tease me about that. Maybe I don't want to miss Life's Parade. Figure I still will have to submit to the EGD Friday. Well submit isn't exactly right, I really want answers and that should do it. I feel so limited now.My friend Kathie ditched on me,her husband Ray has an appointment too, she can't be in Cleveland and Columbus at the SAME time. So I am scrambling to find a sure ride.

And I really, really need to do this. If I miss Friday , they can't gaurentee another appointment. until after Thanksgiving, and possibly,January 2019. So I am even thinking of high school classmates, church , just don't know who I can find.

Hope all goes well, and yes do not put off the procedure. I know my poor husband had to take off so much work, and my job was so very kind to me, as I lost a lot of hours at work as well.

Much success let all know how it goes.

Update: after nearly exhausting all ideas, I called my late husband's 1st girlfriend. Well she really was,but there is more to the story. Kay and I had been friends long before I found out they used to date. I was getting pretty sad, all the people who I had numbers on, seem to have them changed or disconected. I think many are discontinued their. landlines and going with cell alone. So I called Kay to ask if she could think of anyone, and she said "Why not me?" Gosh I wasn't go8ng to ask because I thought she'd be busy. Funny she had been thinking about me, before I called So yes,i am going. Asked on Tuesday, and they said if I missed Friday, they were booking out until after Thanksgiving, and into January 2019. No thank you very much! Up to 3 more months of a bland liquid diet, I am not sure I can handle that.
So think good thoughts on Friday and hopefully there w8ll be answers.

Well thank goodness, so glad you found someone. I am curious how everything pans out for you. I have heard so many stories like mine of late with people having difficulty with the surgery I have seen it go both ways. Will be thinking about you.

And my Bari-bud Ellie123 was off to her ER , has been vomiting and hadn't stopped. I hope everything is Okay, her pouch is 2 weeks older than mine so now nearly 2 months since surgery.

Well that's not good. There are so many things that we can bring upon ourselves by not eating correctly, two fast or not chewing enough, or drinking with a meal or to soon after or before. It does bother me when people jump to the conclusion that our suffering might be self inflicted. If you monitor all the above and you know good and well something is wrong then the ER is the safest place to be. Unfortunately, I had a lot of trips that were useless as they did not know how to treat by-pass patients, but when I went in and told them I was so weak that I was falling and dizzy constantly they admitted me and ran the right tests instead of simply doing a stomach scan and pumping me full of radiation. Push the envelope and make sure they are thorough.

Don't give up and sure hope your buddy has good success as well.

Although I usually name things, have every since mini-Frust8hood I AM NOT naming these 5 new ulcers in my stoma and jejunem are, that is because I want them GONE! Maybe the Carafate will heal them so I will be without them. Script is for 3 months, shoot that is past New Years isn' it? Seems an awful LONG TIME to me.😭💦😪

yep and a moderate stricture of my stoma. That's why she repulsed all the different types of food, she couldn't pass it on to the intestine without a big enough opening. so i have a change of medication and I hope, the next scope shows it has resolved.,That should be donevagaijs Ervin

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
