Don’t know if I’m full.

Recommended Posts

I just now got to start eating soft foods and I took a few bites started to hiccup and figured I should maybe stop just in case that was my “signal” that I was full. Honestly I’m afraid to try to eat because I don’t want to over do it. I’m following all my NUT orders for eating but still just worried about not getting a feeling of fullness or whatever it is that says “hey stop”.

Just take it slow. It'll take time. It took me a moment to realize what my signals were... a big one for me is if I burp. I used to never burp before surgery... now I do all the time but especially if i'm getting full or eating too fast. You got this!

Thank you! I took a bit every minute and I was told to take pencil eraser size bites. I got like 4-5 bits total and got worried I was eating to much so I sat back and waited a bit. That’s when I hiccuped and got a bit of a headache so I figured maybe that was my signal to stop and did. It’s just strange not feeling hungry.

I felt that way when I was on soft food too. Never felt full. But I always measured out my food; nutritionist said eat 2 ounces or less and I did just that. You’re still healing and it could be hard to tell.

i am more than 8 weeks out and I still don’t feel full, but I feel satisfied. I always stop eating before I get to the possible full stage. My nutritionist said it’s fine as long as I am meeting my Protein, liquid and carb goals. And yes I still supplement with Protein Drinks.

Hang in there, you’re listening to your body and it’s a good thing.

It’s really hard because my NUT doesn’t give us Protein goals or any goals except Water. She told us no weighing or measuring just purely listen to your body and gave us possible “signals” of fullness. She said they do this because nobody’s stomach was the same size before or after surgery. So it makes it hard. We aren’t allowed any carbs yet so it’s mostly soft Proteins.

Aah ok. Yea that can be hard if you’re allowed an “unlimited” amount of food.

But soft foods are still tricky. I began by eating half a scrambled egg then ate an entire egg the next day and was fine. No difference in feeling so I understand.

when you start eating chicken breasts or turkey and some veggies you should feel something.

That helps a lot! I’m mainly worried about yogurt lol it’s a slider food technically so idk how that’s going to work. I had tuna with a little bit of mayo which was on my approved list and I felt nothing like restriction so hopefully more dense food will cause that feeling

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
