BMI just over 30 and esg

I’m going for my consultation this Tuesday (7/10). I’m 5’8” and 204lbs. That puts me just within the BMI range for this procedure. I keep wondering if I should do this or not. Kind of like I don’t weigh enough to justify esg and the high cost. But I really feel that it would help me so much with some medical problems...plantar fasciitis, BP, some reflux and just overall sluggish, tired and achy body! Im 53 and don’t like feeling old and worn out with this weight on me! Lol!

What do you think? I’ve done the yo yo diet thing and don’t want to go thru that again. Plus walking and some of the exercise I do enjoy are pretty painful right now due to plantar fasciitis.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I think I'd consider a balloon. I think they stay in for about 6 months and in that time, I think you could lose all your weight. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I also have BMI of 30 and decided to get the sleeve. Surgery is scheduled for 7/11. I’m 36 and my BP (problem since I was 19 and weighed 155) has gotten so high I’m now taking two medications to treat it. I don’t like the idea of the balloon or band bc they have to be removed/refilled and my health insurance wouldn’t cover any WLS, so I have to self pay.

Thanks for the advice! I have also considered the balloon and have similar concerns. Once it’s removed I lose the restriction and am afraid I’ll gontoght back to where I was! Lol! Knowing me, I think I may need the weight loss tool permanently there!

According to my doctor, the sleeve is more effective and safer for lower BMI patients. And they can do a single incision at your navel, so less pain and quicker recovery time.

The number of incisions depends on the surgeon.

Have you tried Saxenda or Contrave? I really didn't want surgery and tried both of those first.
