Back to Work Experience - When do I loose weight?

Recommended Posts

I'm now back to work and have been experiencing things differently.
I'm a little tired considering what I my day was like compared to now. (Maybe I'm in the adjustment phase)

I used to eat often, lunch and delivery is a must also Snacks between time to time.
Now I'm here with my Water bottles and my Optifast chocolate shake.

My energy is not like before, but this wont be for long.

Maybe because I am going to the gym after work daily for like 2 hours, swimming, weights, cardio, etc.. I wake up exhausted.

Also a question that I have, as I've done my sleeve surgery on 10th of June, when do I start loosing weight?! I don't feel it yet, I don't see that I've list enough.
Day of surgery I was around 154 KG and now I'm 147.8 KG, but still I was expecting more! Any feedback here?

You’ve lost 14 lbs so far since surgery day and that doesn’t count having to lose the Fluid weight you had to lose when they pumped it in! That’s great!

I was tired for about 3 months - sounds normal as you heal and exercise

Also— may want to check with your DR .... my plan doesn’t allow for weights and strenuous exercise for at least 6 weeks.

Good luck!

Sounds like you are doing great. I'm 4 weeks post op and I still need a nap every day. What are you doing to get your energy up?

You're doing great! Remember, there are a lot of NSVs (non scale victories) that you should be experiencing. Do you clothes fit better? I didn't think I was losing fast enough until I did a side by side photo and I saw how much smaller my face was. I'm two months post op and have lost 40 pounds and I feel amazing! I"m losing inches and most of my clothes are too big! Hang in there and remember not to compare yourself to anyone else.

I think you have unrealistic expectations. You have lost nearly a lb a day. When in your life, before WLS has that been possible?

Take pictures and measurements. The scale lies for all sorts of reasons

You’re doing great so far!

You had surgery 6/10th. That’s not even a month. Your already working out 2hours every day and going back to work?!!!

That seems imo way too soon. Especially for the gym routine such as that one.

I would highly recommend you talk to your surgeon and Dr office about this. Especially swimming with fresh incision.

It’s normal and healthy to still be tired and need down time especially as hard as your pushing.

WLS is major surgery, just cause the incisions are small doesn’t mean it is minor

Im not allowed to lift anything until 6 weeks post, check with your doctor about the weights.

You don’t mention what you are eating, but I’m going to assume you are on soft foods with focus on Protein as that seems to be common. You also don’t mention any supplements so you may be lacking in Vitamins or minerals. Put a call into your nutritionist.

Your expectations need readjusting. You have lost 6.2 kilos that is a massive weight loss in 3 weeks.

I’ve been keeping up with my gym routine with 2 days off per week

I go to the gym, 10 mins treadmill then I go to the weights and I do small weights and selected devices then I go back to the treadmill for 30 mins then I do me some swimming for 30 mins and finally some cold jacuzzi and I’m out and back home

I’m also working 9 hours per day

I seem fine so far with no issues, changing my lifestyle.

I’m on my soft food stage, eating fish and crabs now! I did try green ice tea which had 7% sugar once but overall I think I’m fine

The incisions are small and they’ve recovered from the outer skin completely and not sure if anything remains still internally but I feel nothing wrong

Pls be careful with the gym weights. Most are told no weights for at least 6 weeks or longer.

Will do, I’m going easy on them and not pushing to the extreme.

It’s weights exercise burning fat and not muscle building. I also decided to chill down on my activity and go 3-4 days a week instead of 5

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
