Recommended Posts

Hmmm... well enjoy your lack of hunger for sure! Maybe mine is head hunger? Idk how to even tell. All I can think about is food right now.

@Megan Sadler when can you eat again? What are your post op instructions?

When I was first post op, I found broths to be satisfying for those hungry moments, because they were hot like an actual meal would be!

I’ve come to a compromise with my husband... there’s no salty chips or things like that allowed in the house. He can have his Cookies and crap like that... but I’ve never met a chip I could resist so yeah, they had to go. I know some will say “but you should rely on willpower” and ya know what? I’m relying on that for plenty right now and am human... and willpower fails. No kryptonite around.. no problem.

I have no problem being around sweets, so he gets to keep those. 😂

I am 4 days post op and still pretty sore. I am having these awful spasms between my breasts at times and sharp pains in my back. I am eating about 1 oz of food at mealtimes how about you guys? What are you feeling

@ellie123 I get to start my soft foods on Wednesday. My kruptonite is carbs for sure. I love dominos garlic bread twists. And it’s harder for me because I’m a closer at Domino’s. At 11:59 they’re still good to sell, no issues. At 12am we close and they’re officially expired which translates to free game for employees. There’s always left overs. Kind of glad I’m away from it all right now. I don’t even have to cook right now because my church members are bringing us food each night for dinner for the kids and my husband. It’s all so good looking. Tonight was chicken tenders and fries with Mac and cheese and grapes and baby carrots and Cookies for dessert!!! I’m in my room hiding. Chicken fingers are soft right 😂😂😂 so are fries!!! Omg so overwhelming.

To take the edge off I chew on cold crunchy juicy sweet melon and spit out the pulp and chase it with Water. Gives me the hydration and chewing action. It can’t be worse than very diluted apple juice which is allowed in this phase. This is the freshest juice you can get, juiced by yours truly.

sipping on Optifast chicken Soup. Praying it calms me down, cuz I’m so hungry I feel the agitation and well... not good.

I’ll give anything to start on Wednesday too!!!!! I want to start so bad. Honestly I think my weigh loss is slowercuz I’m eating so few calories and on the treadmill walking and such. My body is probably in starvation mode.

They brought Cookies? ?!! Cruel. So cruel!!!!

I just ordered sugar free Jello to be brought to me as a treat. It counts towards my Water intake. And I know. I want to try the chicken more it looks so good. Actually at this point the chicken tenders at Walmart’s deli counter smell amazing 😭😭😭

Officially one month out yesterday and today I'm officially 20 lbs down since surgery...again, let's hope it sticks this time around! I was doing really well the first two weeks post-op and then the last two weeks I've been gaining/losing the same few pounds. I've lost 2-3 pounds or less over the last two weeks, but I'm trying to look at it as "wow, 20 lbs in a month!" rather than looking at the 2-3 pounds in two weeks. I've been hung up in the same spot that has been like a brick wall every time I've tried to lose weight before.

I also emailed my NUT to ask about it and what she said was really helpful to me, so I thought I'd also share here. I was prepared for a stall/plateau around week 2 or 3, but was not prepared for it to last as long as it has, so this was reassuring!

Plateaus are common even after weight loss surgery and they often will happen at points where your body has wanted to stall in the past. In the first 6 months after surgery, they are usually 1-3 weeks in length. They can last even longer than that after 6 months post-op. Have faith that you are on track! Focus on how clothes are fitting and if you are losing inches more than pounds. Know that stress and poor sleep can also influence the scale in addition to diet and exercise.

True! It will be a while before I have pizza or those twists again! I was a pizza nut! But I’ve only been missing it occasionally post-surgery. It does get easier. The longer I avoid things, the less I seem to crave them.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
