Living alone, and eating such small portions, preparing food seems costly and taxing as one normal meal out feeds me for 4 meals. Trying to drink more, I can't drink alot at work due to cross contamination concerns

You could cook a couple of meals and then portion them out in plastic/glass individual containers and keep them in the freezer. You can then rotate meals. As far as drinking, you'll find a way if you don't want to feel bad from dehydration. I work on a transplant unit with some very sick patients who are on isolation. I have a drink at my station. If I couldn't, then I would make sure to hit the break room every hour or so. Doesn't take long to swallow a couple of ounces. Keep a cooler in your car so you always have something available to drink. Tiny bottles of Water in your purse. Premier Protein Clear has 20 g of Protein. That will help with your water intake and protein.

When I was shopping around for surgeons, one of the questions I asked was the risk of losing too much. The unanimous answer was that our bodies have a way to regulate itself, and that the potential for that would be slim... granted that you are following the necessary dietary guidelines and meeting all your levels. 6.5 weeks post-op, I’m not sure I can maintain the necessary levels, but I’m told it will get easier. You don’t look malnourished, and actually fit. Perhaps, go to a gym, and get a free assessment from a personal trainer, and see what numbers they come up with.

I WISH i could have gotten that low so quickly. Im still struggling to get to the 130s. You look great. Im totes jelly. But DEFINITELY make sure you're getting your Water if nothing else.

I've had a lotttttt of stress and a tramatic brain injury since my surgery, my body and emotions have been chaos. Just because I'm a different number doesn't make it better, probably shows you are happier and healthier than me, silver lining.

Odds are you will rebound some. Most of us do. Usually around the two year out mark you will have gained some back.

Until the numbers actually say underweight I wouldn’t worry. If you want to slow then add some high fat things... full fat dairy, avodaco... start drinking a latte with half and half. But you look just fine you just aren’t used to it.

And know that anorexia is a mental illness. Being underweight is one symptom or manifestation. If you are concerned with being too thin, you are not anorexic. They desire being as hub as possible and almost always have body dysmorphia and believe they are heavier than they are. They are usually actually hungry and not eating is the way they exercise control when their lives feel out of control otherwise.

I would kill to be 120 or less! I started 8 months ago at 250 and now stalling at 147.. my first “ stall”... it makes me panic into thinking I’m stuck here... I better not be!! I’m only 5’2 though! So while people say I look rather small now- I would love to be extra petite. You’re tall so you look tiny too .. but I think you look great. Sorry you aren’t hungry. I also often force calories ... I eat lots of nuts and such! At least it’s healthy calories... I’m a size small and medium also. But pant size 8 almost 6... I’ve got a ways to go.... good luck to you and smoke weed if you want an appetite... if that’s an option. It sure works

Once you get your insurance going see if they have a nurse or dietitian that you can talk to. We have Cigna & they have been so helpful especially the dietitian!

I’m 4.5 years out and down 150. I had the same concern about 1 year out and my Dr said that my body would eventually settle into a new normal weight.

That did happen and I've been about 10-12 pounds above my lowest weight for quite some time and it's probably a good long-term level to maintain.

You don’t look anerexic at all, you look great! Your BMI is normal! Just try not to get too dehydrated! Eat when you need to. For a normal BMI I need to be 130 and I’m a few inches taller than you so I think you’re totally fine! Just not used to seeing it! Great job

Yeah, I just moved from Gaithersburg, MD to Durham, NC. I got my surgery at Shady Grove

Are you allowed a backpack hydration pack? Might help you get more Water in without having to touch anything with your hands.

Absolutely not, the mouthpiece is exposed to the environment. No food, drink, chewing gun, putting on chapstick, etc. for my own safety. I've just been trying to remember to keep Water at close break rooms and excuse myself when I have a moment

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
