Water and protein

Recommended Posts

Any tips for getting in Water and Protein? I sip water all day but I’m lucky if I drink 2 16 oz bottles, and it takes me all day to drink 1 protein drink.... I am 3 weeks post-op, could that be the reason I can’t drink a lot or should I be able To Drink more?

It's probably because you are 3 weeks out. I suggest adding flavor to your Water (Mio, crystal light) if you don't like water. I also make sure to drink water first thing when I get up. I don't eat until my first bottle is empty. I also learned that different Protein Drinks are easier to drink and digest. I suggest for the first month at least to try a Protein Shake specifically designed for bariatric patients. I also use almond milk instead of cows milk because it seems to go down easier. The most important thing is to stay hydrated. chicken broth, sugar free popsicles and caffeine free tea count towards your Fluid intake. Good luck! It gets better.

I am drinking Premier Protein shakes right now, I just feel like I physically can’t drink anymore. The taste is fine and it doesn’t make me sick I just feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day for me to get in all the Protein and Water I’m supposed to 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I really love your advice @domi about drinking Water 1st thing in the morning and this can give me something to aim for before I get to work. I'm 5 weeks out and still having issues with water and Protein intake.

Just keep working on getting a little bit more each day, you aren't expected to hit your goals right out of the gate, and it does take time to get up to your marks. Don't get frustrated, keep your liquids with you and just keep at it, you'll get there sooner than later!

Set a timer on your phone to beep every five minutes to remind you to sip again.

Two 16oz bottles in a full day seems like you have the water available but maybe let time slip away and dont sip.

divide 32oz by the number of hours your awake and you will see you just how often your not sipping.

dehydration is a big problem post op. nothing matters more than water intake in the those first weeks.

I am 8 months out and just started using a 1oz cup and I shoot an ounce every single time I think to. It has helped tremendously. I also still drink my Protein, I wouldn't get in enough otherwise.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
