GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +

I had been eating lower, than the calorie count my dietician wanted, did the weight fall off? Nope, nearly as fluffy🐑as ever. FYI,the larger sizes have a much bigger range than the wee single.numbers. Maybe 5-10 pound change, takes you from a 6 to 8 , close to 40lbs between a 26 and a 24,👿

Exactly! I’ve lost 60+ lbs and I’m still wearing my size 22 pants! Granted I can fit some XL shirts now, but that’s mainly due to my lady lumps shrinking quicker than everything else. 😿

I'm honestly assuming I'll need to lose 100 pounds before I have to buy new clothes. I wear mostly dresses and skirts just out of preference and I know all of my sundresses will keep fitting for a long, long time lol.

I need to invest in sundresses so that they do last! My jeans are falling off me. I'm not going to buy new ones until end of summer/fall.

That’s all I wear anymore, is dresses. They last a lot longer. That and leggings!

@SunshinePrincess are you out v there?

Hi Frustr8

I am here now lol I somehow didn't get your tag on this but just happened across the forum. I just had surgery on 5/23 & I am doing good. For those that don't know me at surgery I was 499 not sure what right now cause no weight. I'm making sure all those fluids they pumped in are out so I don't freak lol. But I agree it is hard when you don't easily see a loss. One thing I've learned to do is touch my tummy and as you lose it really does feel different even if ya don't see that. And lol I started at 546 so this is something I still do but I can wear a seat belt so I check all the time to see how much easier it is to put on now. Just little things to keep spirits up and I truly each of us can reach our goals! Good luck everyone :-)

I am feeling up a bit. Today I bought new pajamas in a size 2X -- I started in a 5X. That feels like some progress!

Grrr, it won't let me edit that post, so sorry for the ghost post! What I was TRYING to say is that I just noticed the other day that my seatbelt is looser and my stomach isn't as close to the steering wheel anymore!

I can’t wait for that! It’s so demoralizing having my tummy brush the steering wheel. C’mon June 4..

I was just over 300 lbs at my surgery date - 12/18/17 and I’m currently at 240 lbs. it’s hard to not compare myself to others that I’ve watched go through the process as I feel like I’m ‘behind the average’, but I’ve also been battling some issues that have made me malnourished - which can halt weight loss and is making my hair fall out like CRAZY!!

The biggest issue I’ve noticed so far is that I’ve haven’t had to get smaller sized clothes yet. It’s hard to wrap my mind around since I’ve lost 60+ lbs but my clothes are still fitting (albeit looser). I think I just really underestimated how large I was since I carried it so well.

I was a 22/24 pre surgery. For tailored clothes like suits I dropped a size after the first 40 lbs. for stretchy or loose fitting I could wear some of the same clothes 100 lbs later!!!!

As I lost weight I realized I was wearing clothes that were too tight. And truthfully even a lot of tailored 24 clothes have a lot of room built in them for different body types.

As you get smaller the difference in sizes moves a lot faster. From an 18 to a 16 was about 20 lbs. from a 16 to a 14 was a little less. It was a 10 lb difference from a 14 to a 12. Now I am 5 lbs lighter and some 12s are too big but it’s hard to tell because my body composition is changing more than what’s on the scale now.

Ladies who are post op or who have lost a lot pre op thus far....HELP! My stomach is holding on to dear life! I'm so frustrated. I'm disappointed. I carry a lot of weight in my stomach, so it's natural that I still am struggling to loose there. But I'm 91lbs down and.... have went from a 24/26 to a 18/20. I have a couple pairs of stretchy work pants that are 16/18's. But I've only virtually went down 2 sizes. What gives people?!?

I have the same problem in my thighs. Unfortunately there’s really no way to spot reduce! I have these bizarre pockets of fat on my inner thighs just above the knees. Right now the plan is to just keep working the plan and continue to be grateful for what has been accomplished.

Hi lovely ladies!

I'm about 9 months post- op. My starting weight was 343 pounds and I'm around 203 pounds now. So I've lost 140 pounds in total. My BMI was over 50 when I started and it's now 29-30, depending on my luck on the scale each morning.

When you start at a higher weight, you have to lose a lot of weight before you go down a size. I've gone from a US size 26 to a US size 12-14.

I've got yucky arms. My stomach is still HUGE and what's left of my boobs are hanging around my belly. RIP titties.

To get to a healthy body weight, I would have to lose a little more than 50% of my original starting weight. I don't know if that's possible. I would like to lose another 20 pounds or so. That would be enough for me, even though I would still technically be overweight.

My VSG honeymoon phase is the same as the ladies who start with only 50-100 pounds to lose in total. So I feel extra pressure to get. it. done.

I'm right where you used to be and hope to at least make it down to where, you are now, and then see what happens after that. Funny I always thought I'd be built good about,190-195. but maybe from what you described, Hmm I just wonder. Still that promise of smaller sizes is quite beguiling, deflated boobs and batwing arms. and a belly like a deflated balloon not withstanding. But you are alive-er,and healthier than you started, if I promise not to join and run through a nudist park, may I please still grow down. and join you, there?👉😣👈

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
