Suggestions for a weekend of being around a lot of food!

Recommended Posts

Hi I am having a particularly challenging weekend. dinner at friends tonight ( no idea what is being served - I tried to find out). Then Sunday is my birthday along with Mother’s Day. I am finally back on track after a 25 pound gain. I’m almost 6 yrs post op. I know if I take one bite of sugary or carbs things I will be under the wagon being dragged not just off the wagon. Help!

Eat before you go out, at least a high Protein snack. You’ll be less hungry and less tempted to graze on empty carbs. You can eat healthfully at most restaurants, choose grilled foods or baked seafoods, sirloins, etc. You have to be willing to exert some self control. Maybe eating sensibly at dinner, but having a small piece of birthday cake as a treat.

I would just avoid the mentality of well it’s my birthday and mother’s day so I’m going to eat what I want all weekend kind of thinking.

It never hurts to eat before you go and say that you aren't hungry and you've got an upset stomach.

As far as those sugary things, If it would help to plug everything you *want* to eat into a food tracking app, so you can see all the calories, carbs, and fat that it adds up to. So when you say no, you can let out a *sigh* of relief that you didn't eat those things.

You can always take a large purse and pack a Protein Bar or some string cheese and slink away to 'freshen up' and nibble something nutritious. Most hostesses/establishments serve salad, and a meat dish. Hydrate well ahead of time. Offer to bring or just bring an edible fruit sculpture as a thank you gift. Have fruit and cake and just take two bited of cake and finish with fruit. Take some knitting or something to keep your hands busy, offer to help serve or clean up to keep from eating seconds. Pour drinks, etc.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
