I've only been on mushies for a couple days but its still sort of painful to eat most of them. I ate a softboiled egg early this morning and it hurt. I had read that bands might be tighter in the morning, I wonder if that's why? I had mashed potatoes for lunch and even they were a little bit painful - not as much as the egg though. Tonight I am having Soup .. and going to try some pureed chicken salad. Not sure if I should go back to liquids for a while or not? It's been 17 days since surgery - should it still hurt to eat ?:help:

I had a difficult time after banding. I had to go back to liquids for a while. And it seemed that the more I tried to eat mushies, the worse I would get.. so it was liquids for me, hated it. Sometimes you aggravate the band and it gets tighter, at least for me that was the case. Hope all goes well, good luck.

Well it finally happened! I got my band on Tuesday and so far so good. I am a little sore and finding it harder to get around than I thought. Some gas but I am moving to get that up and out. It is hard to sip but I am doing it. Ate some liquified chicken Soup and so far so good. It is only day three and hope I can keep the variety in my diet. Any recipes for mush and slush food please share.

Thanks for all the advice before surgery it helped and I made it so far!

Thanks for the advice. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever be able to just EAT something again without having it feel like a fist in my chest? How soon did that finally happen for most of you?

Hi there!

When I was on mushies after surgery, I stuck with very soft foods like yogurt, cottage cheese, and fat free refried Beans. Remember that your stitches are still healing and your stomach is still swollen from the surgery.

For the gas pains, take Gas-X. It was a real lifesaver for me!

Good luck!

Sometimes it takes a while for the swelling to go down. I still have trouble trying to eat eggs. They just do not go down well for me. Everyone is different. Good luck, and welcome to all the new people. Donna

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
