June Sleevers Lets Get Excited!!!

Recommended Posts

I reviewed my diet book today and I can have cottage cheese and eggs and nf refried bras on Friday! Not sure how I thought I had another week. I used to be ok with the sugar free stuff and now it tastes HORRIBLE to me. I hate crystal light now. I have been drinking Hint waters the last two days. Much better than the artificial sweetener after taste! I ordered some Isopure Unflavored Protein from Amazon to add to Water and food - it will be here tonight. I’m getting burned out on my protein shakes.

Day 6 post op. Feeling a little more normal each day. No pain meds at all today. I did get pretty dizzy ... I waited to long time have my Soup for lunch. I guess with so few calories right now, I need to stay on track with food/protein shake timing. I’m on the count down to very soft/mushy food this Friday. I had a ton of pain with one of my incisions. It was pretty rough even with Percocet and the Abdominal binder. But that pain is pretty much very dull now - so no pain meds and I ditched the abdominal binder- it was not comfortable at all. I hope all of the other June sleepers that have made it to the “other side” are doing well! I also hope hat everyone coming up has a safe surgery and speedy recovery.
Also - I cannot tell when I am full or hungry. It’s so weird. I have to set a timer to eat and keep up with Water. Anyone else experience this? I just follow the amounts of food outlined in my diet book for the phase that I am in ... but do not really get any feelings or signs when I am hungry or full.

I am day 5 as well, after I was able to get free from gas pain I stopped all medications. Pain is not too bad, it is worst when getting in and out of bed. Because of the gas pain I started to walk more frequently and as long as I needed. I am not feeling tired or lack of energy. I liked Premier Protein before when I used to drink the whole thing at once, sipping on it is horrible. My problem is that everything that is sugar free has a horrible after taste. I am also looking forward cottage cheese and eggs. I was just reviewing my phase 2 diet and I just found out that cottage cheese is allowed. Guess who is going to Publix tomorrow do some shopping.
I replied to your post - but not sure it linked back to this or not! See below! Happy post-op recovery!!

OMG I'm so nervous! I get sleeved today!!! My alarm goes off in 2 minutes, but I've been wide awake for 30.. lol! I had a dream I slept through my alarm and woke up at the time I was supposed to check in... And did the whole mad dash to get there, but was too late.

Thank goodness that was just a dream!!!

I have a lot of mixed emotions this morning though. Am I doing the right thing? Or am I brave? Am I going to be successful? Will I fail at this like I've failed so many other times? So many feelings!

Either way, it's time to get up! Please keep me in your thoughts today... This is my first ever surgery and I'm pretty scared!

I just weighed in for the first time since the surgery and I lost 6 pounds in one week. That is 14 lbs since the liquid diet, or 6% of my weight. Pre op and post-op liquid diets are not easy but let's keep our eyes on the price :)

To the sleevers getting surgery today, I have you in my thoughts. [emoji173]

Thank you all for the encouragement! Honesyly, I'm in a ton of pain... That gas pain is no joke! And swallowing the tiny droplet of Water from an ice chil is so very painful.

My left abdomen is hugely swollen and tender, which makes it hard to find a comfortable position. My roommate is a chatty Cathy with lights on all night...

Those are the downsides at the moment. But I KNOW good things are around the corner! So I keep going on walks and pushing through the pain. It will be worth it! I can't wait to get home to my own bed lol

Good luck!! It's not a fun experience, but we will survive and emerge healthier and stronger on the other side!!

Friday marked my first surgiversary, so I wrote 3,000 words about it on Medium: https://medium.com/@mistyfritz/life-after-having-my-intestines-rerouted-d7baf9c8c39f?source=friends_link&sk=e24f2259918ac091cdbbb8a8f24b1f63

Hey all! So I went in for my weight management class. I thought that would be my last one but I actually have to wait until the nutritionist clears me. She has to decide if I'm ready. I''m not mad at it. It looks like my surgery will be happening in the summertime. So instead of focusing on the surgery date, I'm putting my energy into losing weight and making sure all these appointments are taken care of. It feels like doing mini quests on a video game before trying to fight the BIG BOSS. I'm not ready for the BIG BOSS yet. haha. Feeling pretty good!

Finished my 6th and final NUT appointment yesterday.  Everything is done except the psych eval and submittal to insurance.  I did everything required of me including the 100 pages plus of food tracking, I lost 5% of my total weight, and I went to every NUT appointment.
Hoping for the best, things seem to be lining up well for me and in the end, I think I will be able to fully have my wife on board with this whole thing.  She says she is, but I know she doesn't think I should do it.  Just like I replied to another post earlier, i'm doing this either way, it's my decision at this point and I know I can get her to come around at some point and maybe even convince her to look into it as well.
Also, I just started with an APAP machine a couple weeks ago and "holy sh*t" has my quality of life improved greatly so far.  I wish I had looked into this years ago.  I didn't think I had apnea until I had the study done and i stopped breathing an average of 12 times an hour.  That's nuts...
