Anyone stay on shakes for meal times longer than first couple weeks?

Recommended Posts

I have a little cognitive disconnect with the Premier Protein drinks. They are the main ones that my body tolerates the best since it has both casein and whey in it. I don't have as bad of an insulin response with them. So I close my eyes and pray the DATEM stuff isn't that bad in the grand scheme of life. LIke I doubt my tombstone will ever read:
It Wat The DATEM Wat Got Her...

Have you tried syntax matrix? Both casein and whey and no DATEM

I purchase a lot of these right before surgery and then after that my taste buds changed and now can’t get these down. I switch to the premier clear .

Marijuana doesn't have to be smoked to get it's benefits. It can be eaten as well.

Yes true, I was referring more to the idiots who smoke it every day and try to sell their bs that it has medical advantages while their stoned.

Thanks @jess9395. I think I may have a sample -- I'll look in a bit! :) I didn't know it was both. Do you know if the nectar is also both by any chance? I know I have the Lemon Iced Tea.

Newbie here and I tried to search forum for similar topic but couldn't find much. My surgery is set for 5/8/18 and I was wondering, post-op, has anyone stayed on Protein Shakes only(whether for breakfast-lunch-dinner or just breakfast-lunch) for longer than the typical 1-2 weeks? I have been doing blended Protein shakes for Breakfast for couple years and lunch on/off at times. I prefer them as quick alternative in mornings as I'm on the go with kids/work. I didn't know if anyone stayed with a similar schedule after their surgery or has everyone gone to eating solids as weeks went on. Love to hear anyone's experience. Thanks!

First stages you will need shakes to get your Protein in. The goal is to learn to fuel your body with real food. You shouldn't have to be dependant on shakes for nutrition long term. It's a choice if you still want to use them.

After my 5th month I could hit my protein goal with real food. Shakes also are a liquid they don't make me feel full or satisfied.

I had to do clear Proteins or Protein Shakes without a milk substance for a week. Then I've been on Premier Protein for almost 3 weeks. hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to start soft/pureed.

After my about 6-8 weeks I was able to meet my Protein goals with food alone by eating high protein meats and fishes. By that time, I was also completely sick of Protein Shakes so I stopped using them altogether. Now, about 10 months out, I have incorporated a Premier Protein back into my diet occasionally for ease and quickness when it's needed.

God no, and I quit before I was even out of the puree stage.

I should add that the only thing I have struggled with since surgery is milk and cream. No idea why, I just feel a bit sick at the texture. I can't tell you how depressing that is due to my love of drinking 2-3 cups of tea in the morning.

It is a shame though as it was something I intended to do before surgery, I wanted to carry on having a shake for breakfast. I have my chia seeds though that I love with soya milk and some cocoa powder. Not the same Protein wise though :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
