Complex Carbohydrates

Recommended Posts

This is a question for those who are over a year out. Anyone tried adding complex carbs? I don't do them now, but I am considering experimenting. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to successfully incorporate them without gaining weight over a several month period of time. If I add healthy fat to my meal, I stay full longer, but I am concerned about the fat and the carbs together.

From what I understand, when you eat carbs they should as a rule, be eaten with a Protein. Your healthy fat probably includes a protein, right? I'm sure it will be fine

It really depends on why you are wanting to add them back into your diet. Most complex carbs are high in Fiber, so that is a good reason to add them moderately back. In my case, for all of 2017, approximately 37% of my calories were carbohydrates. Try as I might, not all of them are complex though. However, if you are doing serious weight training or cardiovascular training, then carbs are a necessity.

Kind of funny, but right now I am eating a Jolly Green Giant Fried Rice Bowl (it's cauliflower) and that is 26 grams of carbs but only 2 grams of fiber. I have been stable in my weight for almost 2 years and started adding in the carbs and fat once I started weight training.

I met with my surgeon on Friday.. I've completed all my tests and all my nutrition meetings as well as meeting the weight loss requirements for my insurance. We are officially submitting to insurance for approval and I was given a surgery date of January 16th 2020 (13 days before my birthday!) Fingers crossed all goes through

Ok, now im getting old...my body gets me up at my normal 5am dog walk even when it's the weekend, vacation, and most importantly when I'm sick. So now that I have more energy, my body wants to make sure I suffer even longer during the day when I have a cold! Damn being healthy again! (:D)
