Ive got the episodes they are showing on Discovery Health on my DVR. It was so nice to see it back. I really thought there was supposed to be a few new episodes that just never aired. ?? Not sure, but I’d like to see those never aired episodes.

It's definitely reruns because people have seen them all before and even can tell you what will happens just from the episode titles.

However, *I* have never seen them before. I didn't even realize what the show was about until I was searching for message boards devoted to the sleeve and found the TLC board for the show.

Hmmmm....I thought it showed an air date of 7-30-08. Usually that's how I can tell if it is new or not. Anyway, I agree with Denise...they need to leave it on!!!!

I got the info from Dr. Garth's latest blog on MySpace. First TLC was going to cancel it (I guess to make room for more Jon and Kate plus 8...5 nights a week isn't nearly enough of them <tic>), then they weren't, then they said, let's see how the ratings are. I completely agree that they need to leave it on.

OK can't find my original post...I actually really like "Jon and Kate plus 8" because the children are SO cute but I wish just once Jon would chew Kate's ass (keeping in mind we have no idea what happens off-camera). It's interesting that her parents aren't around though - maybe one of her parents is a controlling freak too? :wink2: She just needs to take a breath and calm down.

I've only stumbled upon "Big Medicine" but really hope it doesn't get cancelled!

I think the kids are adorable too. However, first, they are on way too much. Second, I don't agree with people pimping out their kids to make money. How can the kids grow up normally with tv cameras in their house every minute of their lives?

I like Jon and Kate in small doses. Sometimes it's on for HOURS.

I still think we should all go to the tlc website and let them know that we want more big medicine. I am going to go and do that right now!

Are these the same in laws that implied you were a crack whore?

Yes, that would be them. They ended up staying longer and I have lost all sanity and comfort with myself. I would like to dump myself into a vat of Water and stay there.....I freaking ate like a pig yesterday. I am so upset at how his Grandma treated me. I was going to kill her. All she talked about is all the things the girls and I do wrong as well as how I need to diet so I don't get fat again. WTF?????

OMG, are you serious BBK!?? What a horrible thing to say! You so don’t deserve to be treated that way.

I have a nice big box in my garage I’ve been saving for a special occasion. Not sure why it was that I did save it, but I’m sure it could fit all your in-laws and you can ship their asses straight to Abu Dhabi.

She sounds like my grandmother. My grandmother was 5'3" and weighed 90 lb. soaking wet. I never saw her eat. NEVER. I even stayed with her one weekend and never saw her eat the entire time.

Once when my sister was getting married, we all started out at my mom's house and were trying to get out the door to go to where the wedding was. My mom had cut up a cantaloupe so we could have something to eat given that we had no idea when we'd get a meal again until the reception at 6pm. My grandmother gave me a hard time about having ONE slice of cantaloupe for Breakfast. She said "You don't see the thin people eating cantaloupe, do you?" Mind you, at the time I was merely overweight, not even obese, let alone morbidly obese.

I just gave her a look that I hope said "you crazy old bat" because I figured it would be rude to actually say that.

Oh and she was always convinced that she could do a better job parenting the grandkids than their parents (her children) could. Which was pretty  because she was a HORRIBLE parent who would not talk to her kids for months if they did something to upset her and most of her kids went through at least one period where they didn't speak to her for years once they were adults.

Thanks for the link to the tlc big medicine. I went to the tlc web site and could not find the link most web sites have that say contact us.

BBK that is awful. You must be really patient. I am afraid I would have to scream at someone trying to tell me not to get fat again. Oh yea, we all loved being fat so much we really miss being fat now.

Mac I can't believe your grandmother said that to you either! Cantelope is healthy.

My mom always used to tell me I was putting on weight and I needed to watch what I ate, as she was handing me something unhealthy

like Hostess cupcakes.

I am SO GLAD the band was invented!

Doncha just love families? My dad's probably 6'1", 300 lbs and had the nerve to tell me, "you know, I think you're bigger than your (maternal) grandmother." Now his mom used to always says shit to him about his weight and now he's doing it to me? WTF? So being passive-aggressive as I am, I told my mother that if he ever said anything again, I'd just up and walk out. 0:-)

But if anyone had called me a crack whore.....now that would be an entirely different can o'worms. Can't say I'd speak to that person again....well, that or I'd straight their ass out verbally!

Ewwwwww...I just PB'd Powerade Zero through my nose!!! I ate some steak for dinner and it got stuck. After about 1 1/2 hours I took too big of a drink of the juice and it came RIGHT BACK UP. It was so violent it came up through my nose too...UGH PBing cold stuff is NASTY!!!

So BBK...I think you should get some steak stuck, then gulp something cold and PB all over your in-laws. That is the vindictive side of me!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
