Yikes, Slim! :smile2: The schools are closed because of flooding? Wow!

I remember when we first moved to Houston, it was June 2006, and in July that year we had flooding so bad that a car in front of me started to drift sideways. I thought, "where the HECK did we move to?????"

The tropics.

What most people call torrential rains, Houston calls spring.

I remember the first fall we lived in our new house (older house, new to us), and we had gone to a weekend marriage seminar through our church. The "rules" were no TV and we were either in our rooms, eating in the hotel restaurant, or in the seminar. We never even went outside from Friday night until we left late Sunday afternoon.

We knew it was raining, but we didn't know it was RAINING. We got home to see pontoon boats being trailered out of our neighborhood and cars lined all up and down the main street in (the neighborhood had one main street in and out and short streets that intersected it with cul-de-sacs at either end). Of course we're having an oh s**t moment, right?

Luckily for US the flooding only came within three streets of ours. Ours was a narrow but deep subdivision (1.5 miles deep) and the further back it went, the more it dipped down towards Cypress Creek.

We had no idea the POTENTIAL for flooding when we bought, but we were very lucky that we were typically safe.

Good Morning All!

My youngest daughter has H1N1 flu. It stinks that she is 1800 miles away.

Yikes! Where we are now, the Water has come up into the yard, and up to the patio - but that was during Ike. So, since that's the worst it's gotten at this house, then I think we're okay for future rains.

I love playing in the rain, but with the potential for snakes and other ickies...I stay inside.

She is in Texas. I sent an email to her father but have heard nothing back from him. She has a band so I am thankful she has not been vomiting. She just got home from the ER - she had a 103.5 temp. She feels terrible. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
